Training Resumed - Week 5 repeat.

So I never did really get the hang of running for 3 minutes. I always put walks in there, so instead of getting ahead of myself. I figured I'd try Week 5 again and focus on trying to make it through that 3 minutes with no/minimal walking.

I tried to go out this morning at the time I need to get used to running at since I start work Monday and my 5k is going to be at 9am anyway. Riley slipped out his collar right before we got to the busy street, and that freaked me out enough to go put him back in the house. The damage was done however, and I couldn't focus on the running. I walked the rest of the loop (a 2.5 mile loop).

I just went outside for a retry. I ran the first interval perfectly. No walking during the run section. I was out of breath, but not in pain, and it was wonderful. The rest of the intervals were not as picture perfect, but that's something to work on the rest of the week.
I went out with the plan of focusing on the basics of running. My brain could handle the breathing autonomously. I just needed to focus on my form to prevent injury. I choose to focus on pushing off with the ball of my foot rather than watching how aligned my feet were when they landed (so that I would run straight and not hunched trying to look at my feet). It worked pretty well. I didn't start noticing any pain until the 4th out of 6 intervals. It's an improvement!

Well I'm icing my ankle while I'm propped up watching MythBusters and guzzling water. I hope you guys have a great week.
