Loa Angeles Rock and Roll Marathon 2011 and need for advice about motivation...

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

I did it!!! 13.1 miles in under 3 and a half hours. I didn't train like I wanted to but I persevered and crossed that finish line! It was also an achievement considering the fact that I was on 2 hours of sleep when I did it. I know I know I should have gotten more rest but I was on 'vacation' and staying with some friends in LA. They had schedules too so I didn't want to cramp their style. Besides they wanted me to come and I knew some of their friends from my previous visits. I had a good time with my friends and at the race.

I have come to realize that its a total mind over matter deal with these.. Now if I can just commit to training daily, then I will be in good form. When I am at the race its no problem. I am determined to finish. At home that is a totally different story. Does anyone have any advice on how to stay motivated in between races?

YAY for you......You must be so proud of yourself! Congrats on finishing. What a great time!

I stay motivated by being being accountable here on SP. I joined the 10,000 steps a day team. Since Jan 1st of this year I've gotten at least 10,000 steps a day, everyday. Watching my fitness minutes add up helps too. Exercise first thing in the morning helps me too. It seems to set the tone for the rest of the day.

    Good luck and congrats again.
