Loa Angeles Rock and Roll Marathon 2011 and need for advice about motivation...

I did it!!! 13.1 miles in under 3 and a half hours. I didn't train like I wanted to but I persevered and crossed that finish line! It was also an achievement considering the fact that I was on 2 hours of sleep when I did it. I know I know I should have gotten more rest but I was on 'vacation' and staying with some friends in LA. They had schedules too so I didn't want to cramp their style. Besides they wanted me to come and I knew some of their friends from my previous visits. I had a good time with my friends and at the race.
I have come to realize that its a total mind over matter deal with these.. Now if I can just commit to training daily, then I will be in good form. When I am at the race its no problem. I am determined to finish. At home that is a totally different story. Does anyone have any advice on how to stay motivated in between races?
