Getting Back to Spark People

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

Today I decided that I need to get back to using this site regularly again. So, I started by tracking the food I've eaten today (and OMG, that DD breakfast sandwich was WAY worse fat and salt wise than I thought, yuck). Then I added my fitness info for today and yesterday. I've actually done 60 minutes on the elliptical both days this week, which is the best start to a week I have had in many months now.

At the moment, I'm in the process of reading through my old blog entries. I started at the very beginning. Looking back, I was obviously much more depressed then than I am now. All my life I've dealt with depression; I personally believe that it is at least partially a chemical problem and something I am just prone to. But yeah, wow. I was pretty depressed in 2008. I got even worse after my wedding in 2009 when my husband and I were dealing with a lot of crime issues (we had 2 car break-ins, 2 car accidents (neither was our fault) and our house was broken into as well) in a short time span and it really just pushed me to the edge. That's when I finally talked to a doctor about my depression and I was prescribed an antidepressant. It definitely took some trial and error, but I found a medication that works for me and since then I haven't had the severe depression symptoms that I had in 2008 and 2009.

Anyway, the other thing I really am noticing from my old blog entries are the nice comments from other people here. Wow. People really are great on this site. Back then I was way too depressed to really reach out to anyone and thank them for the comments and support, which I should have. A lot of the comments are really touching...

Now that I've gotten that stuff out, I'm going to keep reading...
