That's always a tough situation!! It's not too far from my bed time, so when it happens I TRY to not give in, but hunger hits me pretty fast and furious. I should portion out an actual serving size of something good for me, like baby carrots with hummus, but usually I have a few Food Should Taste Good multigrain chips. Not as healthy, but I feel like I can't have an apple, orange, etc. because I don't want to get energized and be unable to fall asleep. I sometimes drink a glass of soy milk and then go to bed. Lately I've been eating 1/2 cup of plain nonfat greek yogurt with a squirt of honey or agave nectar; the calcium in the yogurt helps me sleep. 3418 days ago
I've always had this problem. Finally decided that having a late night snack is what I want to do, so I plan for it in my daily calories. It's been working and I don't fell deprived. I eat light in the morning (hard boiled egg or oatmeal) plus snacks, a normal lunch and dinner and a good snack (200-200 calories) at night. 3418 days ago
I found that this was a problem too. So I have a list on my fridge of five things to do instead of eat! Think of five things that you love to do... that are as easy to reach as food is... perhaps a board game with a family member... perhaps a craft (I love beading and papercrafts)... think back to your past when you had time to do fun things and reach them out of the cupboard. You have to have them out and organised or you won't have the energy or willpower to start them. Then, when you stomach growls at night, you can do one of those "evil villain-type laughs" (preferably out loud!) because you have power over your stomach, and then spend an hour doing something you love!
