So 2 days ago I finished my C25K training and completed my first 5K run. Since the weather is starting to get colder and wetter, I figured my days of outside running might be over for awhile. That is really disappointing for me because I love being outside and running with the dogs.

Anyway, I have thought about pushing on to 10K, which I think is the logical progression and probably what I will do, but today I had a wonderful run and I think what I would love to do is run trails. What I have come to realize is that what I love most about running is being outside with my dogs. They not only make the time go by quickly, but they are just so willing to be with me and enjoy the moment, no matter what the weather is like. They never complain about the distance or that they are hungry, wet, thirsty, tired, not in the mood. In fact the only thing that may be disappointing to them is when we have to go home.

Who is taking your pictures of you? Nice that they can go along! Nice to have a partner to run/walk with! My DH goes with me everywhere on our walks/hikes! We love the wooded trails too! Your dogs seem so obedient-very good!!!
emoticon on all you have accomplished!! Keep going! Even if it gets chilly, the heat you generate will help out! emoticon

Great pictures! Wouldn't it be great if we were more like our dogs sometimes??

If you do decide to go for the 10K, check out the Bridge 2 10K group. The workouts build from the C25K program. I will be heading that way in about a month or so!

Beautiful scenery. You are an inspiration, Joann! Keep up the hard work, but listen to your body like you did through this challenge.

I'm not certain, due tto the weather changing, how that will affect your progress.

I say, keep doing what you are doing... and maybe start thinking about winter goals now, so that your ready to switch gears when the weather turns.

    You'll figure it out.

I joined a trail running group on Facebook and so far have only made it to one group run. It was my first trail running experience in years, and it was a blast! They held a mini-seminar on running trails at night and in winter. They do make headlamps (good for running AND hiking) and trail running shoes with spikes. Runners are a crazy group, so I'm sure you can find gear for any running environment. Personally? I love winter running. Just be careful and watch out for ice. Have fun!

I still don't love to run, but prefer to exercise outside, too. I agree that having Sunnie with me made the time seem to go faster - it was definitely more enjoyable. It's taken some time getting used to being out there by myself, but I'd still rather be outside than in.

Way to go on completing 5K! What an accomplishment!! I'm so very proud of you!!

What gorgeous scenery. I lived a couple blocks from a trail before I moved. I really miss it.

The trail running looks like fun! For me, I think once I complete C25K and do my first 5K, I will just continue to do them for awhile before progressing on. I don't know...but that's what I am thinking. Hope you have a great Friday and weekend! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon

Dogs make good exercise partners! My Chloe and I just did our first 5K this morning! I didn't set out to go that far but got turned around, and when I mapped it out, it was 3.08 miles! Love your pictures; to us in Phoenix the green looks great.
