Are you clean?

Thursday, October 20, 2011

I had my training session with George today and after, I felt amazing. It was finally one that pushed me again (took it easy before and week after marathon). And, I love that feeling. I love going to muscle failure. I like making my muscles shake. Burned 320 calories just lifting. WOO!

Anyway, as I work out, I'm looking at myself in the mirror. And George comments about the fact that I have a good amount of muscle and I said I want to be toned and fit like I always talk about. And he goes 'well we have talked about this, and you know what you need to do'. Abs are made in the kitchen. You cant make up for bad eating in the gym. Dont believe me? I'm proof.

I KILL IT in the gym. I work out, thats not the issue. Its my food. And i'm not just talking staying in calorie range, I'm also talking about the food I choose. Its not clean, its not always healthy, and its leavin the jiggle in my belly, thighs and my precious behind that i'm so proud of.

So? I want to attempt to focus, buckle down and start eating clean. 100%? Nope. But 85-90%. I love my yogurtland (frozen yogurt), I dont have it all the time, but i dont want to give that up. I also dont want to be freaking out when I really want a cheese burger (my ABSOLUTE fav food).

My question to you all is...are you a clean eater? What are your favorites? The only thing I worry about is during the work week. I dont have access to 1. a microwave or 2. a fridge. I have a lunch box with ice packs, thats it!

I have been doing chicken breast with salad, almonds, cheese, a clif bar or kind bar (YUM). I went to trader joes and got their decaf candy cane green tea (YUMM! holiday fav) and these new trader joes chocolate chip brownie and oats bars. I know, i'm sure they arent "CLEAN" (also someone define that for me!) but a better dessert option than oreos!!!!!

I want to do better. And like George said, "YOU DESERVE BETTER" and I am truly starting to believe that.

Like my friend AMC120 says "eat clean, train dirty". New motto.

Thanks for posting. I relate . I'm great about the fitness, not so good with nutrition. Right now I'm just focusing on planning my meals for the week and avoiding candy at the office. I do plan to make a dessert a week. I think anything you make at home is going to be better than the store bought equivalent. So the homemade is better than what I would get if I felt deprived. I feel good about fruit crisps (and they're so easy). I don't want to use an artificial sweetener, but maybe I can find something better than refined sugar. Good luck with your journey to eating clean!

Wish I could say I eat clean - maybe 50% of the time.

A lot of us are in the same boat (sometimes I feel like it's sinking!). I workout 6 days/week, but at least one dinner per week is unhealthy - pizza, Chinese, etc. Tonight it was OnCor stuffed cabbage! emoticon

I haven't looked it up, but I take it "clean" eating is about unprocessed foods...fruit, veggies, whole grains and lean meats. No white sugar, bleached flour or stuff with 4 syllables. Tough for those of us on the move without refrigeration. Sure, apples are fine at room temperature, but let's face it, we want more!

Like I said, we're in this together. Clean eating is a tall order for me, but I am reducing the bad stuff. If I can get away from the bi-weekly processed meal I might just lose the muffin top!

Oh my gosh, it sounds like I wrote this blog. I am doing great with working out (except haven't been to great on the s.t.) and my eating, HORRIBLE! Let's do this together. I need a major kick in the a$$. Hey, you got me to do a half marathon. Now, can you get me to eat clean? Or at least, better?? When you get your definition of clean, let me know. And, I agree, I don't want to give up my Tutti Fruitti either!!

BTW, did my 10 miles today. Had to slit it up in a 2 parter: ran 5 miles outside and came right home and did 5 on the treadmill. That's what happens when you have a little girl who is sick and a brother who has to get to school. Could only be out for the 5 miles. better then doing all 10 on the treadmill!!
