THE COMPUTER!!!!

Saturday, September 24, 2011

OK so I am the leader of a BL team TURQUOISE TITANS! And as always when I begin a challenge my mind and body defect! 1. being the leader is a busy challenge and requires additional time to keep the motivation up and 2. since it is a CHALLENGE you gotta do the work! NO KIDDING! Well this is week 3 and I have not made any progress. I cannot be the leader and FAIL at the challenge. Not good for my psyche(vanity) SOOOO once I broke my challenges down to the lowest common denominator the problem is emoticon YEP my computer! I love to surf and read interesting stuff, facebook, twitter, SPARKPEOPLE and a boatload of other stuff. And I need to check in on the team and complete reports....And while all that is good. I have allowed it to steal time away from things that I want to accomplish. IE weight

Listening to my IOWL podcast #3 helped me get to this point. Well....I kinda sorta already knew this LOL

I gotta decrease my computer time especially during the week. This is like a drug so we must go slow......So this week my limit is 1 hour per day M-F weaning by 5 min each week until I get to 30 min. NOW I must replace the time gained with something that will assist me towards my goal. be it take the time to pack lunch at night instead of being on the computer etc

emoticon Let the shakes begin....MONDAY!!!!!

TURQUOISE TITAN'S!!!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!

I have to laugh. First you KNOW the title caught my attention. Then I see you needing to restrict yourself like we use to do the kiddies.

Well again I can only chuckle cause you know I have this issue too and wonder where did all the time go? But even worse, pretend like I don't know!

I commend you for acknowledging AND doing something about it!

I'm having the same problem with a challenge I'm on right now, too. But I'm not on the computer like I used to be, so not sure what my problem is.

I use a timer to help with this little problem - a free one called Cool Timer & when the alarm rings I finish the one thing I am doing then leave computer. This is what I am working on anyway . I just need something to remind me to set the timer !!!
I have limited my Spark teams to 2 also - this was very difficult at first but now is really good as I enjoy these teams so much more .

Oh, reducing computer time can be soooo tough. I applaud you and wish you all the best. I "should" work on reducing my online time too; but, don't think I'm quite up for that yet. LOL I'll keep an eye on how you do, so please keep us updated as you progress. Good luck!

I can definitely relate, so a couple ofweeks ago I made a decision = 1 hour a day max unless it's for a very good reason. Guess what? I set a timer once a log on, 60 min - I'm done. Try it Dimi.

whoa I so agree, with this. I have stopped logging my food and exercise because I dont have time to do the healthy cooking, rehab and exercise that I want to do. I have been trying to focus less on food and more on doing things, so I am not thinking about the next meal and what it is going to be. This weeks challenge is to to get through without having anything sweet after dinner, no half square of dark chocolate no low cal jelly, nothing zilch. Want to join me? You rock Dimi

I just did this myself. I quit a few nonessential teams, kept the ones I help lead. My time is down to one hour in the morning. But girl you can get so sidetracked sometimes. I find I have to not get on in the evenings or risk being here forever. Some nights I will sneak a bit in but I try to limit that time also. After all if i'm sitting here i'm not doing what I should be....right???

    LOL!

Boy, can I identify with that! I was in a challenge over the summer and noticed that it led me to spend more time in front of the screen.... It helped in some ways, but was counter-productive in other ways.

I think I've found some balance, but Its tricky. Especially since I either use an ancient laptop that responds with glacial speed to every request, or this iPod, which is fine for reading but a pain for typing. Fortunately, this is a solvable problem!!
