I DID IT!! WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE THE ELATION THAT I FEEL!!!
Last night I read entries on the C25K team that were at the same training point. I read how almost everyone thought the jump from 8 minute jog to 20 minute jog was mostly a mental hurdle to get over. Believe me, I was really worried that there is no way I could finish 20 minutes.
This morning I got up and the weather was kind of misty outside. That was actually a good thing because I knew it would be cool and refreshing to run with a slight mist hitting me.
I walked my warmup walk and then it was time to start the jog. I took it slow and stayed right with the beat of the music. When I felt like I was getting tired out a bit, I just talked to myself about my breath and took some long breaths in and out and slowed my breathing down.
I don't really remember the podcast much except when the music changed to some words that were like, is this a dream or is it real. I remember this from the 8 minute jog, but this time it had a profound impact. I just kept saying to myself..... THIS IS NOT A DREAM.... THIS IS REAL.... I AM JOGGING.... AND I AM GOING TO FINISH THIS ....... and then towards the end of the podcast the music changed to something kind of lively and a bit more upbeat and I felt myself lifting my feet higher and I realized I was not longer doing the shuffle jog that I had done when I started this training. I was really jogging. I was extending my legs and lifting my arms and I had energy that I had never felt before. I was running. YES, me.... 60 year old me, I was running. woooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo me.
