My Backyard...or...How Not To Do A Vlog

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

I am impressed with all those that have done vlogs...they are not easy to do at all (at least for me they are hard.)

Things I would do differently ~

1) Not do it outside. Too much background traffic noise. And you get other distractions...like a dog running around in the background. Heh. Her name is Sachi.

2) Digressions and rambling ~ I need to put that in check. Eep. Sorry all.

3) Length. Too long. I’ll try to be more succinct next time...if there is a next time!

I think you do great on your vlogs and would love to see more. I have one friend that has done a few, he's really cool and could possibly offer tips about editing, or whatever. I've just gotten reacquainted with SparkPeople.com and I love reading others blogs and especially watching the vlogs. It's so much more personal to see and hear someone.

    So keep them coming.

Oh, the other Spark friend is 'On2Victory' and his name is Robert. Tell him I sent ya!

I love what you said about SEM and I need to get over there and introduce myself. I love the Sciences, and it's few and far between to find others of like mind. After coming back on SP after gone for a year, I joined a few more teams in a couple days time. Now I have to get up to speed with what they're all doing.

How did I miss this?!!? Yah to shout the SEM team, WOOT! I think you are my first shout too, so sweet! Oh and I love the pupper running around the back by your tree :). I think if you had all the seasons with that tree and posted them, people would be thrilled.

    Good vlog!

LOL... OMG. I am SOOO sad I missed this when it first went up. I laughed so hard when you pointed to your avatar.... LOVE LOVE LOVE.

GREAT Vlog! You best keep vlogging. One thing is that you do get bettter at it-- but you have to keep trying! It was awesome to see you and get to know you better this way. It is fantastic because now I totally can read your emails in your voice. It is hilarious. LOVE IT.

Ok-- I do kinda plan.. I mean... I think of a topic, get a general idea of what I want to cover (like bullet points in my head).... then I talk.

YAY San Antonio Spark Team!!!!!! We are pretty awesome. Just mail yourself down here to my house... cheaper than flying.

Ok-- tips for good vlogs..... lemme vlog about it.

I just adore vlogs, sometimes ESPECIALLY the rambling ones! You get to know a person's voice inflections, a bit of their personality, and more than that, I find myself smiling at them every time they smile...it feels THAT personal sometimes!

Greg, one day you will get to San Antonio and I promise you that we will have a Spark meet in your honor. Thanks for the team shout-out and it made me feel good to hear you mention my birthday zipline adventure. You rock!

It was a little long BUT, I watched it all the way through, so it wasn't toooooo long. :-) It was nice to hear your voice. Like I said to Amanda about her vlog, you don't sound like I would have imagined. ;-)

As I was watching, I was thinking about a vlog of my own that would show my personality. I think people would imagine that I sound exactly like I write. I try to be myself in my writings, however it comes across. So, I think people would find that to be the case. Maybe I'll do one in my 2nd language (American Sign Language) with open captions for everyone. :-) ... Maybe one day... lol

Yay! It works! I love that Sachi was running around under the tree as you were talking about it. Too funny!
Congrats and you are braver than I...I have yet to actually post a picture of myself, though my profile cartoon pic is pretty much on.
WTG on your first vlog. I think I may have to check out the SEM team.

Way to give a call out to the SA Spark Team. I am sure the rest do - but I really appreciate it. Vlogs are great because you really get to know people better. So cool.

    Great job!!

I thought the vlog was interesting. I enjoyed seeing you puppy running around behind you. I think it would have been cute if he had come over to you to play. Oh well.

    Nerds and Geeks unite!!

I love seeing vlogs from my friends. I'm one of those people who believe vlogs and regular posts should be kept in balance - I know too many people out in the book blogging world who do one every single week and that can get really boring really fast - but I absolutely love to see especially first vlogs from people!! Digressions can be good. :D They make the vlogs interesting.

Have you seen the Nerdfighters vlogs on youtube? John and Hank Green, two brothers (an author and a musician) started vlogging to each other as a way to keep in touch, but they are GREAT vloggers, so interesting, so much more interesting than most of us who just sit/stand there and ramble, haha, and I love watching them. :D

I'm actually putting up a vlog tomorrow. Not here on Spark, but on my regular blog, though I'll link to it from here for anyone who wants to see it. I don't make them very often because I'm frankly not that interesting to watch - all I do is ramble! - but I figured that way you guys could all see me on video. :D
