My Clean Return to Healthy Habits

Saturday, September 17, 2011

I have been off track now for a few months. I don't know why, really. I think it was a gradual drift from healthy habits as opposed to a sudden drop-off. I decided to blog today for a couple reasons.

The first reason is to announce that I am now officially back on track and it was so easy! I read Coach Dean's blog about starting over and he mentioned "eating clean" so I decided to check into it and find out what he was talking about. The information on the web site sounded good, so I went to the library the next day and checked out a couple of the books. I have been doing good with it. The first few days I was hungry a lot, so I kept eating healthy things and ate as often as I needed to. Then, my stomach finally adjusted to the nutritious meals and settled down.

Today is the Cooper-Young Festival, so I decided to treat myself and bought a funnel cake, BUT I shared it with three other people, so I only had a little bit AND I took the bits with the least amount of powdered sugar. I am very proud of myself for that. Only a week ago, I would've wolfed down the whole thing without thinking twice.

The second reason I decided to blog is because I need emotional support. I had a doc. appt. Monday and I let her know about the constant lump in my throat and that I was concerned because of my Hypothyroidism. She said I have an enlarged lymph node and I go in for an ultrasound on Wednesday. I'm a little nervous because an enlarged lymph node without infection can mean lymphoma and that's the last thing I need. I've just been praying and trying to stay busy so I don't think about it too much.

I'm glad to see you're back on track. The clean eating approach is great!

I'll be thinking of you, sending out positive thoughts, on Wednesday. Good luck!
