Running the Race

Monday, September 12, 2011

So... after acknowledging my absolute discouragement with running last night, I woke up this morning determined to give it another try.

I know myself well enough to realize that if I put it off until tomorrow it could be next week before I donned my sneakers again! This being the case I opted to fo my run shortly after getting out of bed this morning, before I went to church.

As I indicated in my status it was the BEST run of the week. Not sure if it was the farthest distance or not, but it was the most consistent run. I did not bonk, U hydrated, I kept a good pace. In fact, as I was running the last two minutes I decided I wanted to get to the end of the road that I was on.I stayed a steady paced until I looked at my watch and realized I would have to kick it into gear some to get to the desired end point in time. I decided to leave it all on the track and did a serious sprint the last minute of a forty minute run! I finished the course. and it felt great!!!

After a quick shower I headed to church. A friend of mine preached the message this morning and I almost laughed out loud when he started. The key scripture was Hebrews 12:1-3, and the whole message was about running the race with perseverance. I was sitting next to my trainer and I had to laugh. There was plenty of room for me to apply the message to my spiritual walk, but it also served as a reminder to persevere in the physical race that I run.

This afternoon I attended my first yoga class. I was pleasantly surprised when my trainer commented that I had maintained good form throughout. There was only one point where i knew that I was off balance and it had to do with right and left hand side confusion.

Tomorrow morning I am planning to run the weekly mile. And Tuesday I have a date with my trainer to do the first 30 min run! I;m looking forward to both!!!
