Scales are a funny thing

Thursday, March 01, 2007

I have a scale at home which tells me that I'm hanging around 205 with a 10 pound loss since I started. Then I went to my doctor for an annual exam and their scale said I was at 200 with a 15 pound loss since the last time I was there. My first inclination was to go out and buy a new scale. But standing in the store, looking at the scales ranging from $5 to $40 and comparing bells and whistles, I realized it was really an exercise in futility. And besides which, who cares. All that matters is 1) I'm losing and 2) my doctor noticed. Oh, and 3) a measly 10-15 lbs or not, my pants are hanging on my hips right now. OH! And 4) I didn't spend $40 on a scale to tell me that :)
