Feelin the Spark! Ch. 4

Friday, September 02, 2011

I just got finished with Chapter 4 - Fire. Since I get home from work and don't feel like even LOOKING at a computer, I'm going to try to blog about it a little on my lunch break! :)

I'm really enjoying this book. I've found that reading it through breaks at work, on lunch break, waiting before my jazzercise class starts, it really helps me to stay motivated and keep my mind off things that would hinder my health and fitness goals.

Chapter 4 was about finding the fire... the passion. It's when your body stops HAVING to exercise and starts LOVING to exercise. At this point, I know that a week of exercising get's me right back into feeling like "myself" again ... and not the sit on the couch, loath around, negative inner dialogue self, but upbeat, energetic, and fun self, which is the best one :) However ... I'm constantly fearing that weekend or moment that will take me into that downward spiral and that's what I have such a hard time crawling out of. I'm going to keep in mind the Spark quote "2 steps forward 1 step back".

One of my FAVE quotes from this chapter, "The belief that everything should be done perfectly or not at all is the enmy of consistency and momentum." I don't have to be perfect, I just have to try my best ... and get back up when I fall.

This book has really given me a good grasp on the concept that Healhy is a lifestyle, not a moment in time, diet, or fad. Tonight will be 4x this week that I've made it to work out! I'm hoping that this weekend I will have the motivation to jump on the treadmill a couple times in order to keep my sparkstreak going! :)

Congratulations on your consistency with exercise! If you're a morning exerciser, schedule that workout first thing before you have a chance to change your mind. Or just tell yourself to do 10 minutes...you can do anything for 10 minutes. It usually ends up being more than 10 minutes anyway.

Keep it up! You are doing great! emoticon
