I NEED HELP FROM MY SPARK FRIENDS!

Thursday, September 01, 2011

So I am in charge of planning an Employee Event for this month that involves promoting wellness. It is something that will get our employees together to have fun...promote healthy lifestyles and to help promote our wellness department.

I have thought of a few activities our employees can do in this HUGE Pavilion we have but I need more ideas. BRAIN STORMING...so what better place to ask for help than my WONDERFUL support group..Spark People..this is what we have already come up with!
- Wii Sports Center (Games that can be played)
- HOT SHOT (Basketball shooting game)
- LINE DANCE (rotating between "Electric Slide" and "Copper Head Road"
- Hula Hooping for your Health " to fun 50's beach music"

I need about 4 more activites that can be placed around the hospital and I am stumped ...I have to keep in mind that we do not need Worker's Comp claims ..so they have to be safe activities that are health related.LOL
HELP!

How about going back to childhood activities....

    Red Rover
    Red Light/Green Light
    Duck Duck Goose
The game with the stick and you go under, lol, I keep thinking Limbo, but that's not right
    Freeze Tag

Oh and as a personal music choice.....Jimmy Buffet, fins to the left, fins to the right :)

How about some races: hopping, walking backwards, filling containers with water, etc?

That sounds like a great oppurtunity!
Would a (not dangerous) obstacle course work? Get people moving and laughing.
And I totally agree that some sort of demonstration of healthy eating would be great!

Great ideas here! Maybe some kind of trivia contest or guessing game or something? Maybe a stationary bike or a stairmaster set up? I don't know.. brainstorming.

Great opportunity, and some great ideas already! In addition to some of the others, you could also do almost any exercise that requires little or no equipment (squats, push-ups, crunches, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, etc.); if you could borrow a BOSU ball, that'd make for a fun squats challenge (doing squats on a BOSU ball is NOT easy!). Good luck, this should be a fun event!

Love the wii station idea! Zumba would be good. I was thinking a smart snacks table where you could show two choices that look similar and maybe have a little game like guess the best snack. Or just have the visual of the two side by side with the nutrition info in front. Chips and cheese dip vs wheat thins and roasted red pepper hummus, pudding cup compared to candy bar, etc.

    Good luck! Sounds like fun!

Wow. This sounds like a great opportunity to introduce some people to some fun ways to stay active. What about Zumba. Or a healthy recipe sharing table. After its done maybe you can have copies of all the recipes made and bound them somehow to give hand out or sell. Are there going to be kids there? Maybe an inside bowling alley. Plastic of course. Or badmitten. Musical chairs for smaller children. Or adults. Its fun. I hope my suggestions help you. Good luck. I'm sure it will be great. Would love to see some pics after its done. emoticon
