Day 365!!! !!!!! no sodas, not even an ounce.

Monday, August 22, 2011

I am very proudly celebrating today, as it marks an entire years since I've drank a soda.

I used to drink sodas like water...and I've always drank plenty of water, averaging 16-24 glasses daily.. I stopped 365 days ago, and haven't had one since. I thank God, Sparkpeople- and a great deal of special thanks to my eight year old son, Kevin. ( I had originally decided to "take a break" from sodas for 41 days to break previous personal record. Then I decided to go to 50 days. On day 48, I exclaimed to my (then) 7yo that I was almost at 50. Instead of congratulating me, he innocently pointed out that if I could do 50, then I could do 100! NOW, it's 365 days later!)

I'm celebrating this BATTLE, but the war isn't over. I still have a long road to go toward mastering my diabetes, obesity, anxiety, and chronic pains, and lack og sleep. BUT, on THIS day, I truly am proud for the victory over sodas. I AM what I eat and drink, and I am NO LONGER soda. Give me some LOVE, Sparkfriends....And to each of you who are struggling to overcome sodas, YOU CAN DO IT! Our children are SPARKpeople, too!

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment!

I made a resolution to have no soda this year, and made is about 10 weeks before I broke down. I haven't built up the strength to quit again, but I need to. I was feeling SO much better when I was off it.

Your story is an inspiration, especially since my own 7-year-old son wants me to quit drinking the stuff, just like yours. :-)
