Summer Ending??!

Where is the summer going!?? I can't believe it but some area schools began last week and the one locally starts TOMORROW!! No more sleep-ins late (until weekend) for the little and big dears. They have buses to catch and books to carry and friends to catch up with. Unlike me, my dgkids have mixed feelings about starting school year. I had no other social schedule and was so glad to start back and see what everyone had been up to. But not so with the girls. They are semi-anxious to start what will be their last year in high school. But I mourn that. Wish they were in Kindergarten again. Sigh!!

    I don't want summer to end I have too much too do.My DGD starts the 22nd and I think it is terrible if children in some areas have started last week they are loosing a lot of their summer. They go till June 8 or more and then start back in August we had it made when we went to school.

    I have a lot of work to do outside and I hope I can start getting it done now. First it has to stop raining, when we needed it we had none and now that things in the garden are almost ready to pick they are rotting because of all the rain. Better luck next year. At least I don't do it for a living and the poor farmers are going to take a beating this year.

    I think it's scary to be a senior in some ways because it becomes "real" that there is going to have to be an end and college or work will come next. emoticon

    Yep...I have two high schoolers this year! My daughter will be senior and my son a freshman. I am still in denial that I am old enough to have high school aged children...haha!

    My gk's started last week too. Everything has gone smoothly so far. DGD was happy when I picked her up today; haven't settled into a schedule yet but I'll be picking her up 2-3 days a week and either taking her to dance or home. She's glad to be back and excited about the things she's into, always liked school. Even my big guys seem glad for the structure and change of routine. But yes, I miss the single digit days when they had more time for me and their world was smaller. Hugs, we all need them!

    I have mixed feeling about school. Nick is a SR this year and very anxious to leave it behind (he thinks he's so grown up). Son #2 is probably moving back home to be closer to school (he took two years off and is going back to finish his degree program.) Will we ever be empty nesters? Sometimes I do wish they were young again....I think I could get everything right the second time.
