Back-At-It Challenge

This is a challenge to me, to get back to where I want to be. To not let myself continue to backslide. Brief back story: I started Spark in April 2009 at 204 pounds, lost 60 pounds in a year and began “maintenance,” was able to stay within a five pound range until May 2010.

What happened then? A stress fracture in my tibia. That required that I not run for 6 weeks. Even though I continued to exercise at the gym during those 6 weeks, I also continued to eat as though I was still training for my spring half-marathons. While I didn’t completely fall off the proverbial wagon, I ate more than I needed, indulged in larger portions and too many treats.

The result? Since May, I have gained 8 pounds, putting me at 10 pounds over my goal weight. I have also gained back inches, mainly in my waist and hips. While my clothes still fit, they don’t look as good as they did a few months ago.
I know the sky isn’t falling, but I need to get myself back in check. I don’t want these 10 pounds to turn into 15 or 20 or worse! I lost weight before and I know what I need to do.

Here’s the plan:

emoticon Reign in my eating (smaller portions and fewer treats)!

emoticon I just got Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred, so I am going to give it shot- starting tonight! (For those who have done 30DS, feel free to share any insights!)

emoticon Get back to running, at least on the weekends. I’ve been cleared to run since June, but have only run 3 times since then.

emoticon Continue weekday lunch time workouts, but push harder! More reps or more weight!

    Good for you! 30DS can be tough but very effective. The first couple times I did it, I didn't use the weights either. I wanted to get a feel for the moves first before adding in the weights. Thank goodness I don't have stairs in my house- the day after doing it the first time my thighs were KILLING me!!

    I just love when I get on a roll again, you get tuned up so quickly. Nothing wrong with giving yourself time to heal, but it will be fun to hear about all your super-fast progress.
