I peeked

Friday, July 29, 2011

Ok, I will admit it. I couldn't stand the suspense any longer ... and I peeked.
When I started my Meatless Experiment ... I weighed in on Sunday at 182.4 (I didn't change my tracker because it almost made me cry ... it was heavier than when I started June 1st)

Well ... stepped on my scale this morning ... and I saw .... 177.6!!
4.8 pounds in 5 days is not shabby. I can't wait to see where the next 2 days puts me.

I've noticed something interesting with this Meatless Experiment. I'm no longer eating meals. I eat a fruit/vegetable/ or serving of nuts when I'm hungry ... and move on from there.

Another interesting thing that I've noticed ... I'm hitting 99% of my nutrition values. The only one I'm short on is iron. I'm hitting carbs, fats, proteins, fibers, sodium, and calories precisely. And the big bonus ... I'm feeling great.

A huge surprise to me ... a girl raised on the farm ... I don't miss the meat as much as I thought I would. And instead of seeing all the foods I can't eat when I go into my kitchen ... I see a fridge stuffed full and counters overflowing with options. It's a great place to be.

I promised that I would stick with this for a whole week ... and I will.... I definitely will ... but I must admit that at times this week, I was thinking of spaghetti and scrambled eggs and such. So, I'm thinking that after this week, I might modify my approach.

I'm thinking 3 days meatless ... 1 day meat ... 2 days meatless .... 1 day meat in rotation. I'm still thinking about it, so we'll see. But I do know that I'm feeling more energetic, more alert and more in control since I started this little experiment.

Who knew?
