WARNING!!! Summertime may be hazardous to your waistline!!

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

GAH!!! I finally weighed myself a few weeks ago after being off the wagon for a while. I have gained back 6.8 pounds!!! Yikes! I blame it all on you evil, evil summertime!!!!

The nights at the ballfields, the late bedtimes, the other people's kids coming to my house waaayyyy too early in the morning, the yumtastic adult beverages!!! Oh how you taunt me!!!

Since I have stepped on that scale 2 weeks ago I have been a little more aware of what I am stuffing in my mouth. I am also doing the Healthy Family Makeover Challenge, which is helping!!

I have also come to the conclusion that I need to just wait until school starts again to go back at this full force. I'm not quitting. I still plan on trying to eat healthy and drinking lots of water and checking in on SP. I just don't have the time or patience to track all of my food with a house full of kids running around. I also need to find a way to fit exercise back into my life. I just can't convince myself to get up early and work out before the kids get here. It is much easier to do during the school year!!! Ugh...

In other news, I had my bloodwork done and everything is good!! :-) Last time I had work done, my bad cholesterol was ok but my good cholesterol was bad. I also needed to be on thyroid meds. This time, both cholesterols are good and I don't need to be on the meds. As for the tiredness I had been experiencing, it seems to have passed...so yay me!

Oh, and when does school start??????

Must be nice to sit upon a high horse and throw down the word "excuse" so easily. Unless you walk a mile in Doogie's boots, how can you know?

Doogs, you've had a lot going on this summer, and when establishing a new lifestyle, it can be easy to fall off course. I've watched you do it, you've watched me. The only thing we can do is encourage and support each other to start a new day with new purpose. Love you, dear friend.

I agree - it is super hard in the summer. I know for me, the complete lack of routine and all the chaos of moving has been an issue. Add on that my eldest has become obsessed with baking....I need to try to make my own routine though, and remember to make better choices. Ice cream, slurpees, cookies have been too easy of a choice lately! We can do it!

Sometimes you've got to pick your battles.
Choose one thing or maybe two.

Like -- drink gallons of water, annnnnd, oh, no chips. Or something. Set yourself up for success, not failure.

Turn it around. (and calling it an excuse is kinda negative methinks). Use your summer to build up a strength. You like some exercise, so do some stealth exercises. It's hot -- it'll be easy to drink lots of water.

    xoxo

Don't let summer be an excuse.........most of us can make anything an excuse..... next comes Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, rainy weather etc......... Been there, done that!
    Good Luck.
