Uhg, not another kidney stone!!!

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

emoticon You were warned this could happen. High protein diets lead to kidney stones. Just ask anyone.
emoticon I did ask and the research showed more benefits from eating low carb than risks. And its NOT a high protein diet. Its actually a high fat diet.
emoticon Ya? Did those benefits include the pain we're in right now?
emoticon No, of course not.
emoticon You know what Dr Z is going to tell you right? You have to cut out all the things that a low carb diet is about. Meat, eggs, cheese, dairy, leafy greens (especially spinach) all have to go.
emoticon That's just riduculous. I ate all those things on the recommended diet. I just ate them in smaller amounts (well, maybe not the spinach - I ate plenty of that.) The only thing that has really changed is the amount of fat. And most of that is actually from nuts and seeds. The meat I eat is very lean.
emoticon Except the bacon. What happened to the Turkey Bacon?
emoticon It's not really the bacon. Its the overall fat. I think I've cut my carbs back too far and too much of my diet is fat now. But I'm not gaining weight.
emoticon Not losing either.
emoticon Why don't you just let me be. I have enough pain. I don't need guilt too.

I thought they can't really tell us for sure what causes kidney stones. I sure hope you feel better soon.
