Stop Being So Hard on Yourself
Tuesday, June 07, 2011
Why are so many of us so hard on ourselves, especially when it comes to how we look? I have yet to figure this out and this is something I struggle with often. There are days when I get up look in the mirror and think "damn, I look pretty good" and then an hour later I could notice one little flaw and then it becomes a day of picking all my little flaws out.
I have lost 28 pounds since September and I am damn proud of it. Although I have days where I think I could be at my goal weight by now if I just stepped it up a little bit more and didn't skip a workout here or there or didn't eat that pizza. What it boils down to is that I made a lifestyle change and didn't go on a diet. I need to embrace the changes that I have made and be proud of what I have accomplished so far.
My goal is to look in the mirror and pick out what it is I like about my body rather than what I don't like and use that as fuel to get that workout in and to not give in to my cravings. I think that most of us don't give ourselves enough credit for the things we have achieved on this journey. Think about where you started and where you are now whether you lost 5 pounds or 50 pounds it's something to be proud of. Even if you are just starting out be proud that you made that decision that it's time for a change and have taken the first few steps. It's time that we stop beating ourselves up about what we don't like and time to start taking credit for who we are and how far we have come.
I'm sure there are plenty of you that feel the same way so stop picking yourselves apart and start giving yourselves daily compliments!!
