Sunshine Helps!

Saturday, June 04, 2011

I live near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is not exactly known for its sunny weather! I find that when our weather is nice, my whole outlook on life is better. I eat healthier, I am more motivated to get exercise in, and my outlook in general is better. I have often wondered if I have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), or if it is just general human nature to be happier when the sun shines.

I am finding that my strenuous yard work is my favorite form of exercise. Although I still have to force myself to clean inside my house, I am not as unhappy about doing it if I get to spend some time outside as well. Since there does not seem to be any shortage of work to do outside, I guess I will just have to try to find a healthy balance between chores that I enjoy and chores that I don't. One more way that Spark People has contributed to learning more about what makes me tick, and finding balance in my life!

    Your house is so charming!!

Sometimes I wonder if I have SAD, too. I think it's just human nature to be happier when the sun is out. For most people, anyway! :)

That is such a beautiful picture of your home in the snow! Since I live in the Bay Area of CA, we never have any snow but we have plenty of cold cloudy rainy days (like this weekend). I have to agree about the sun. I am a totally different person when it is warm and sunny. I'm much more motivated and get so much more done.
Here's to the Sunshine! emoticon emoticon

You have a LOVELY house!!! Even in the s**w! (you know snow is a 4- letter word!) hehe I feel yucky when it's cloudy and gray. Sunshine always makes me feel better! You don't have to have S.A.D. I think those are the ones who get deeply depressed with the clouds. We just feel kind of yucky. So, here's to sunshine and smiles!!! emoticon emoticon
