Overcoming My First 5 Weeks No Matter What!

Sunday, May 29, 2011

So here I am almost 42 years old starting over with my own personal health goals. For the last 3 1/2 years I gave up my fitness caring for my young disabled husband that was once himself very fit but now in a wheelchair with many complications. I myself have had severa neurological problems - but I choose not to go to seek conventional medical treatment and in the past always cared very well for myself, naturally.

After I had gained all this weight myself over the last 3 1/2 years topping off at 288 pounds I realized that if this went on much longer I would not only be in big trouble and need a caregiver myself but who would care for my husband if I could no longer do it myself? His parents and family turned their backs on him as he is noe "too much trouble and bother".... Very Sad for him to have the loss of his health & family.

So I joined SP... and started on my Journey to Regain my health :)

I failed to tell you we now live in a RV full time as we are now on such a tiny budget. I really wanted to join a Gym but who would take care of my husband and I live in an RV - how would I ccomplish this mission?

Well here is what I did!

My husband has to sleep in a recliner so he is actually in the "living room/kitchen" and I have the small bedroom to myself. My workout area is a mere 3' x 7' between the bed and the counter/drawers and upper cabinets. Not much to work with :) I got out the Wii Fit Plus and Biggest Loser Games and got started. You know I get a lot done in such a small space and have never missed one nights workout! I have to work out right before bed because this is my only me time after he is asleep which can be anywhere between 9pm and midnight.... I didn't want to get off track and really wanted this for myself - needed this.

I have been sticking to my eating plan - even though he has 11 doctors an just had his 2 nd surgery this year, and a few ER Visits. I just wont let myself have an excuse - no matter what.

In my first (almost) 5 weeks as of today I have lost 25.4 pounds and already feel better and can see how my fitness level has increased greatly. I am so Happy I am making these changes.

I tell you all my short version of my story to encourage others - It can be done No Matter What!!! You too can beat the odds and get fit, lose weight, and feel better.

Life will pass you by quickly my friends, don't wait....please don't wait. You are worth it.

I also am a Strong Christian and without The Lord I would have never had the courage or strength to do this. He is my Everything :) Psalm 91

God Bless You an Moivate You to Do it Too!!!

I'm an old RVer. Livingroom areas work well for exercise. One Swiss ball fits in a small space. Do you have a tub or shower? Store the ball there. WALK off the stress.
I am a caregiver and you are in stress. Walk around the block or park. Where in Arizona are yoU? How long is your RV? All our situations can be another way!
I send my prayers too. born2byoung1 emoticon

How quickly life can change and throw challenges into our daily lives. I try to rise each morning and throw in a huge helping of humor into each day....otherwise my challenges overwhelm me.

I may not be losing weight, but I am gaining much more and this healthy journey is getting easier to handle.

I am taking on one hurdle at a time...

Thanks for the reminder that no matter what life brings that anyone can do the hard work it takes to take care of themselves. You are so right, you can't take care of others if you don't take care of yourself first.

Good luck to you on your journey. emoticon

I am so glad you are turning your life around with health goals and "me time". Caregivers especially need to be able to have some time for themselves. I have no doubt that God is leading you and that with His strength you can overcome any obstacle. You are an object lesson of this. I stand in awe. Thank you for sharing. And congratulations...over 25 pounds already!
