Remembering where I came from

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Dr. Sharon Lee is a wonderful, caring individual that takes care of lots & lots of people no matter what their financial situation is. I've known her since I was pregnant with my oldest son. She delivered him and my youngest son.

I work with her at the clinic. Today, she gave a compliment that I wanted to talk about. She said that I was a great example of what can happen you take control of your life, your health and your family.

Part of my story:
Lived with a man for 11 years who was physically and emotionally abusive to me. I was very heavy all those years. I tried to take care of the 3 boys the best I could by working 2 jobs, coaching their ball teams and being both parents. I had no life and my self esteem was non existent!

I caught him on Monday, September 2nd, 2003 with a prostitute on one side and cocaine in his hand. I was done. The boys and I moved in with my parents for about 7 months. My uncle was living their at the time. He was dying of lung cancer. My weight was increasing it seemed by the day. I had been treated for an overactive thyroid by radioactive iodine, which killed it entirely. Depression, increasing wt, fatigue, working during the day, passing meds to my uncle at night seemed endless. My uncle died Dec. 27.

It took me until the 2nd week in Jan of 2004 to realize I was done feeling terrible! I started meditating and doing yoga with my youngest son (age 10.) 1 1/2 later, down 81 lbs, lots of inches & body fat! Passed my trainers and group exercise instructors test and started the fitness program. I now run a not for profit gym in Kansas City, Ks. I started with SP in 2007. Since then, I promote my clients to use SP to track their food and exercise. It is a great tool!!!

Moral of the story: It is important to take care of yourself in all aspects of your life. The rest will fall into place!!

Thanks for reading my story and allowing me to remember where I came from!

Game Plan:
dance for 2 hours
home for the evening!!

1. Nice compliment from Dr. Lee
2. Wonderful dance practice
3. Hanging out with my hubby over lunch!!

Strong Mind, Strong Body, Stay the Course!! emoticon

what an awesome story Pris! you are doing great! I just finished my bio for my 50th class reunion that's coming up in July. It brought out a lot of painful memories. I could write a soap opera about my life. But we have to go on and take one day at a time and you have done that and are very successful with it. emoticon
