I went running tonight. I am so proud of myself! It was about 90 degrees today and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make myself run. But, I did!
Actually, I took off 2 days before my triathlon, then had the triathlon, and then have taken off the 2 days since the triathlon. So, I've been feeling kind of sluggish and eating pretty poorly. I'm really disappointed in myself, but ready to get back on track!
Also, my half marathon fell through...again. It is really not her fault, but my sister-in-law had a conflict come up and so, once again, she won't be going... which means Nana won't be going...which means I won't have a babysitter...which means it's kind of silly to travel all the way to California to race. I'm disappointed! I've been training hard & was looking forward to a fun race AND meeting a handful of SPers!!! But, it just isn't going to work out! That also has had me bummed. But, I must move on!
I worked on speed again tonight. I'm really wanting to get faster. I love using my Garmin watch, especially as I'm learning to use some of its functions! Tonight I set it for intervals: 2 min runs followed by 1 min walks for a total of 10 intervals. Well, I averaged a 12:04 pace! Just last week I tried this same interval, but only did 8 repeats, and averaged 12:09! So, I'm improving! Yeah!
I also did a 5 minute warmup run, so ended up running almost 3 miles (2.93) in 35:05. My PR for a 5K is now 36:45 based on this weekend's triathlon. So, I'm working on beating that! I plan on using the 'virtual partner' on Thursday and seeing if I can get close to a 12 minute pace. My plan is to run that 5K once per week until I CAN run it at a 12 minute pace.
Tomorrow I'll be riding my bike during my daughter's swim practice. AND...I'm trying CrossFit!!! I'm really excited! I can't wait to tell you all about it!
