Sometimes We Surprise Ourselves
Tuesday, May 10, 2011
This past weekends was probably one of the best I have had in a long time. Saturday night my husband and I had planned a date night, it had been a while since just the two of got to go out together. We went out for dinner then headed over to the mall to pick up some Mothers Day gifts. First stop Old Navy, I spied the really cute linen pants that I have been wanting but refused to pay full price for, and wouldn't you know they were on sale for $17.50 WOOT! My husband told be to get 2 pairs since I liked them so much. I decided to try them on again I grabbed an 8 and a 6. Got into the dressing room and wouldn't you know it the 6 fit perfectly not too tight in any area, I could of cried. My husband loved the way they looked on me so I purchased my 2 pairs of pants and moved on to the next store.
There is a Coach outlet in this mall and he asked if I wanted to go in, (I was a little surprised because I had just bought a new Coach bag a couple months ago) who am I to turn down an offer to go to Coach. So once we are in there he tells me he wants to buy me a new bag for Mothers Day so sweet (nevermind I have my own business making purses ha!). So off we were with my new pants and Coach bag in hand, great night!
Sunday morning I had a 5K at 9:00 with some friends. I wasn't feeling great but decided that I would see how I felt once we got to the race and decide if I was going to run or not. Once they were getting us lined up I was feeling better and decided I could run it. It started out great, breathing was good, legs felt great. At about 2.5 miles my stomach started to turn and I thought oh my goodness how am I going to finish this. I started going back and forth between walking and running I just wanted to be done with this race and sit and rest. I thought for sure when I rounded the corner to see the finish line the time would not be as good as my last race since I ran that whole race. To my surprise the clock read 31:?? I almost died, I think that made my day. I finished the race with an official time of 31:54, not as good as the last one but considering I didn't feel well and I walked a good chunk of the race I think I did great.
It's amazing how sometimes we surprise ourselves and it happened to me twice in one weekend. The first surprise was the size 6 pants, I never in a million years would of thought I was quite there yet. I know I'm not a 6 in all pants but it didn't matter I was a 6 in those and I reveled in it. Second surprise was being able to run/walk a 5k while not feeling well and finish with a time like that.
It's the little things in life that can make us the happiest and those were a couple of the things that put a big old smile on this girls face!!
5K this coming Saturday and it's a trail race with beautiful scenery I can't wait!! I'm hoping any stomach issues have passed and I won't be hindered by them this weekend.
Thanks for reading!!
