I have no words....

Saturday, May 07, 2011

Well here it is...
the day I thought would never come
that I, have no words...

Actually I have had a lot of internal dialog and tears the last few days and all because of a stupid knee injury.

Now, perhaps I am being silly or even over emotional but these feelings cannot be helped. It's just that I finally feel totally recommitted to this journey. Sticking to my eating plan (that's right, don't use the word diet anymore)
exercising regularly, and cutting out on the negative talk and being more positive about my body image, whatever it may be at this present time.

And now, the troubles with my knee...
I have been sidelined with an injury that looks like I am heading for surgery. I have tried to avoid it for too long, i've been in Physical Therapy for 2 months and my therapist sat me down Thursday and recommended that I see an orthopedist.
He also told me that I need to stay off my Treadmill, and limit my walking as much as possible.
Just when I finally made the connection that regular exercise coupled with sensible eating habits are what's going to get me to my healthier goal.

I went to the pre-op website to see what it intails ... Chutches for a couple of weeks, no weight bearing for a month... and now i'm liking it even less...
I guess that I am feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and a bit sorry for myself right now. Sorry for the rant, but sometimes it makes you feel better to get it out on "paper".

I'm not sure how I feel right now...tried to explain it to my Hubby, but I don't think he understands the place i'm coming from. I guess I just feel......

"broken"

So sorry about the knee! Don't give up, there are alot of exercises that can be done while you are recovering. A friend of mine was just diagnosed with MS after losing all the weight she wanted. The meds she was on during the flare-up caused her to gain some back. She's on light duty, basically walking on ly to get food and use the bathroom. She's not giving up, and you should not, either. Sparkers are here for ya, hun!

I can understand. Just when you feel like you are gaining some control over yourself and your life, something outside of that control takes the power away from you. It is completely valid to feel the way that you do. Try to remember that it is about a whole, healthier you and not JUST losing weight. Try to listen to the doctors and do what you need to with an eye on the long term prize. I would ask about exercise, what you can expect to do when. Ask about cardio you could do seated, I am sure there are things like working out with a medicine ball that you could do while recovering. Ask maybe about water exercise, too? Consider looking into what your caloric intake should be during lowered activity too and focus on the things that you CAN control like your eating plan. I'm so sorry you are hurting and that surgery is in your future, but this isn't the end of the road. It is a journey, and this is a heck of a bump in the path, for sure. You can do it. emoticon

So sorry about the knee but don't give up!! It might not be as much as you want but you can do arms, maybe crunches, some pilates (if you can get up and down to do them....) but you WILL find things that you can do and you WILL continue your healthy eating plan--the new lifestyle doesn't change!! You'll manage--you CAN do it.

I KNOW YOUR PAIN. BUT DON'T GIVE UP JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO STOP FOR A MOMENT. IT IS JUST A PIT STOP AND A REST BREAK, BUT THAT DON'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO GIVE UP. WATCH YOUR EATING AND YOU CAN STILL BE IN THIS RACE. SOMETIME WHEN GOD WANT TO GET OUR ATTENTION, HE SETS US DOWN OR LAY US DOWN AND WE ONLY HAVE TO LOOK UP TO HIM WHOM GIVE US EVERYTHING. LOOK TO HIM AT THIS TIME AND YOU WILL PULL THROUGH MY FRIEND!!!!! HAVE A GREAT MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!

Limited mobility doesn't mean you (have to) stop. There are several articles/videos here on spark that you can use (like arm workouts).
