I must have a Little Black Cloud over my head

Thursday, April 28, 2011

I left for vacation on April 16, 2011. On April 17, 2011 I broke my ankle. Not realizing it was broken, I thought it might be a bad sprain, we continued our vacation. We toured the beautiful town of San Clemente. Then on Monday, April 18, 2011 we went to Mission San Juan Capistrano had a wonderful time. The mission was gorgeous many beautiful pictures. However, in my attempt to get back into the truck, my ankle gave out and I fell backwards out of the truck. The Firemen and Paramedics were called and their assessment of my ankle was that it was broken. They transported me to the hospital and X-Rays were taken. They confirmed the ankle was indeed broken, however it was so swollen they could not set it. They put a splint on it and told me to get it cast in about 7-10 days. I called my Primary Care Physician and he referred me to a Orthopedic Surgeon and he put a cast on it this past Tuesday, April 26, 2011.

I was very limited in my movement before all of this, now, it is almost nonexistent. I have been told it is going to be 12 weeks before they can even look at the leg to see if the cast could be taken off.

I have just been so upset about the whole thing. I have not been keeping up with my Spark Teams, or even posting. I am so sorry TeamMates, I know I have let you down. After I get this cast off I will see what I can do. Sorry!!!!

The same goes with my SparkFriends, I have been in such a "Funk" that I just haven't talked to anyone! Sorry, when my mood is so bad, I figure no one wants to talk to me.

I appreciate all the concern, goodies and messages you have been sending. Thank you very much!!!!!

    Hi Paula,
I was browsing around Sparkpeople and ran into your blog. I sure understand how you feel and can relate to the "funk" you've been in, but bad things happen to good people all the time. This is just a bump in the road and you will get past this. It will just take time and you know how time flies at our age! emoticon

Just stay plugged in, talking to your Sparkfriends will certainly help you through this, so hang in there!

Paula, I've been wondering where you were and if you were all right. I am so sorry that you have suffered this setback. I'm sure that your funk is anger at your circumstances and anger at yourself for not listening to your body.
Whatever is going on will pass with time. You need to let it go, and that will help your body to heal. You know that we are all here for you and to support you. We were very worried about you!

We'll all start sending loving, healing vibes your way, and know that you'll begin to feel better with each new day.

Oh Paula, my dear friend, I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am, however, so happy to hear from you. I have been worried about you and wondering where you were.

Just take things slow. The most important thing is for you to heal.

When in a funk and upset, specially over things like this that you have no control over, that is when spark friends can come in handy. WE are hear to listen. WE care! My friend, YOU are special to us.

Just don't worry bout things. The teams will be here when you are ready. And, some times like on ours, there are things to do that do no involve activity. Just silly fun little games. OR discussions. It might help to keep in contact. WHEN you are ready, of course.

AGAIN.....I am keeping you in my thoughts, and prayers. AND, am sending you healing energy! Find some sunshine my friend, and smile! Karen emoticon emoticon

Oh my! Paula, my friend --- you have been through so much. And now a broken ankle. No fair! I know it doesn't change anything to say that - but it seems like you are getting more and more challenges.
So here's some emoticon and some emoticon and a sweet emoticon to snuggle with. I'm sending you healing thoughts and hoping the dark clouds are on the way out. Bless you, CJ
