I Need Support!

Afternoon everyone,
Feeling kind of blue today, weighed myself and i'm still at the same weight I was a month ago. I didnt loose, nor did I gain. I think the whole calorie in and exercise balancing act has got me stuck. I'm not giving up, just don't know how to start over.

    Do not, I repeat, do not give up. Be blue, own the discouragement. But then pick yourself up and do one thing different and/or better. Are you drinking enough water? Have you done any movement--digging in the garden, moving somewhere, somehow? Then ask yourself, no matter what the scales say, are you in a better place? Do you have more energy? Is your mind just in a better place? Just learn from the discouragement and keep it moving. emoticon

    Irma, you may just want to avoid the scale for a while. All the effort we put into exercise and nutrition causes good changes in our body that may not be reflected on the scale. For instance, exercise helps build muscle which makes a body work more efficiently - a very positive benefit speeding metabolism. But, since muscle tissue is more dense than fat, we may see a gain in weight (or no change) on the scale when our health is actually improving.

    Sometimes just trying something different when exercising will help us loose fat. When muscles get used to the same movement, even if it is a good workout, they don't respond as well to that same routine. You may want to try something different from what you usually do. Also it is important that you eat enough to support your body during exercise. If we do not get enough calories our body thinks it is starving and holds on to every one it gets. So make sure you eat enough quality fuel.

    I hope this helps. Don't think of this process as a total restart, but just a little adjustment on this complected journey to better health.
