My schedule has just turned crazy... again. I now have my first triathlon NEXT SUNDAY! Then, my 2nd triathon (with 2x the swim... in a lake, not pool) 4 weeks later. Then, my 2nd half marathon 4 weeks after that!

So, now I need to figure out how to schedule my workouts. I have to train for these triathlons (well, this week is pretty much taper week), while also training for my half marathon.

Today I did a 5 mile run. It was the first long run in a couple of weeks. It was TOUGH! I actually did it as part of a brick workout. I rode 4 FAST miles (fast for me) and then did a 5 mile run. My usual pace is around 12:00 or 12:30. Well, at times I was running 14 and even 15 minute miles! And it was all I could do at the time! I wanted to QUIT. I was thinking "I can't DO this!" I'll never run fast. I'll never be able to do 13.1 miles again. I can't train for two triathlons and a half marathon!

But, I kept going. I walked some. I told myself to run for just 10 minutes at a time. Well, the 10 minutes kept stretching...I was slow, but I was moving. And, as I hit about 2.5 miles, I felt better. I started picking up some speed. Not a lot, but some.

I ended up running the 5 miles at a 13:10 pace, which isn't really that bad for me. I would love to do my half at a 12:30 pace... actually I was dreaming of a 11:30 pace! But, if it doesn't happen, that is OK! There will be more Half Marathons! And, I'm still burning calories and getting fit. I have changed so much in the past 10 months!

Yes, there are 'bad' runs... but that doesn't meant I'm not a runner! Even when my run looks like a walk, I'm a runner! I'm getting out there and doing the miles. And, I coulnd't have done this 7 months ago!

So, keep pushing. Keep setting goals and reaching for them. As long as we don't give up, we will get better! Let's do this!
