Daycare Training

Friday, March 18, 2011

I have to have 18 hours of continuing education each year for my daycare license. This week I have been doing 11 hours of correspondence courses. I completed one course today and almost the 2nd course. Tonight I went to a class in my daycare association held. Sometimes, I get frustrated taking these classes because it is usually the same info year after year. I have done daycare for 26+ years -- I could teach the classes.

This morning I did a strength workout here at home. After the class tonight I went to the gym and did a short cardio plus a couple of exercises with the weights.

Weekly (March 13-19):
A) Go to Balance Fitness at least 3 times a week: emoticon; emoticon; emoticon; emoticon

B) Do at least 5 days of cardio: emoticon; emoticon ; emoticon; emoticon; emoticon

C) 3 days of Strength training emoticon; emoticon; emoticon

Daily: 3/15

B) Drink at least 8 cups of water emoticon (13)
C) Blog emoticon
D) Log food/exercise emoticon
E) Exercise for at least 10 min before I get on SparkPeople emoticon
F) High protein/low carb emoticon

Hey Carrie! You certainly have made a difference for your kiddos and their families. Sometimes the "red tape" seems to get in the way of the ministry of caring and loving children. It can get frustrating to have to do the same stuff every year. My neighbor just returned from a medical missionary trip in Haiti and he talked about his experience at an orphanage he worked at. The director of the orphanage is taking advantage of the situation there; and the children don't receive everything they should. Guess rules are necessary.

BTW...great choice at Red Lobster the other night!

I'm guessing that God uses you at the classes to encourage the newbies! I'm so glad you maintain your license and give the parents that extra level of security! So many people must leave their child with people who don't have the skill or training! You have blessed so many families through 23 years!

That's just like nurses and EMTs having to be recertified in CPR every couple of years... My daughter is just starting out in the Day Care field -- she hasn't even obtained her certification yet... there is SOOOOO much red tape to cut through! It's CRAZY!!! But then again... when you are responsible for other people's MOST prized and cherished possession --- I guess they just want to make sure you are not slipping into bad habits. And we've all heard horror stories about some that do. So it is GOOD that you take the classes and provide a warm loving home for your DC kids! emoticon
