Quilting Weekend

Monday, March 14, 2011

I didn't post a blog this last weekend because my husband was working on a project with the computer.

I had a great weekend. Saturday, I had a session with my personal trainer. She took my measurements again. She didn't have the ones she took in January with her, but she thinks I have lost inches. I am waiting for her to email me with the numbers. She also gave me new strength training and cardio workouts.

The rest of the day I worked on my daughter's highschool graduation quilt. ( She graduated in 2008 - I know I am late). I worked on the correcting the skipped stitches the machine made when I quilted it. I also made the binding and sewed it on. This week I am working on hand sewing the binding to the back. Then I will be done! I want it on her bed when she gets home from Scotland.

Saturday night my husband and I taught Sunday School. It was encouraging to have a boy return. His mother had started attending another church on Sunday mornings about 6 months ago. But, he kept saying he missed Sunday School at our church and that his favorite teachers were my husband and me.

On Sunday, I worked on my youngest daughter's highschool graduation quilt. (She graduated last May--I know, I know, I am a little late again.) I have all her blocks pieced. I worked on piecing the piano keyboard border. Today, I finished the piano blocks. I have the four corner heart blocks to make, then I can put it all together.

One thing I do with my childrens highschool quilts--every block has some significant meaning in their lives. So it is a very personal quilt. You can see my son's quilt in my pictures.

Also on Sunday, my husband went for a walk in the "canyon" behind our house. I haven't done that since before my knee surgery last August. It was a mile walk and I got winded going up the hills. But it was such a beautiful day.

Today, I did a strength training workout this morning. This afternoon my daycare baby was picked up early, so I went to the gym for a cardio workout. I did 66 minutes--40 on the elliptical, 11 min on the gazelle and 15 min on the bike. I pushed myself because I was a little up this morning. I found out that one of the side effects of Lyrica is weight gain. So I am trying to exercise more. If I find that it will be a problem, I probably will stop taking it and live with the pain, because my goal is to lose weight not gain.
