Hello My Sparkly Friends...
Last night will reading my devotions I was introduced to a concept that I just thought was awesome. We have all seen movies where some character has a rock or a bag with several rocks in it and the rock or rocks represent an important event or person or place in that character's life. Well, that concept is suggested with a bit of a twist in my devotions.
The theme for February was Prayer but I had skipped some pages so I would not get too far behind. I was sick last month too and slept for what seemed like a week. Well, last night I desided to go back and pick one night up with the current night and this is what I read...
(from "The Women of Faith Daily Devotional" Fabruary 24th entry by Lucy Swindoll)
"Ten years ago Marilyn's daughter, Beth introduced me to the idea of stringing together beads of different sizes, shapes, colors, and textures--each a reminder to pray fo rsomething or someone. During the time I was negotiating to buy my house, I added a little square wooden bead. Beads of different colors and shapes symbolize different people for me. I even have a bead with holes and rough edges ... for problems I'm praying about.
From time to time I change the beads. I remember a beautiful white one, almost like a marble, representing my friend who had a terminal illness. I prayed that the Lord would give her a quiet spirit as she trusted him with the outcome. When she passed away I saved the bead in a small treasure box. It is a sweet and personal remembrance now."
The devotion goes on, but this really struck me in the heart. What an awesome visual reminder throughout your entire day everyday to think of and pray for family and friends and our government. Then when an obvious answer to a prayer is received to have a string to string our answered prayer on across a bedroom mirror or bathroom mirror or kitchen refrigorator or any place that would be seen on a regular basis as a reminder that God is listening and he is answering prays would be fantastic. (This was my idea to string them as answers to prayer or like Ms. Swindoll does keep the precious dear ones as a keep sake.
I would also like to say here that my mom always told me that NO Prayer EVER goes unanswered. God has basically three answers to prayer, Yes, No, and Wait... and ALWAYS are His answers what is best, even if we don't see it that way at the time.
So, I decided to begin to practice this idea and to start to collect beads based on prayer requests. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing and to have a visual reminder not only to pray but for whom to pray would help.
I could go elabrate and do a charm bracelet and I may just do that when I have a full time job and our finances are better but for right now I thought I will just get some beads and string them.
So, here is where the amazing King of Kings and Lord of Lords comes in again and Wows me with his awesome Grace and Power and Majesty.
I went to sleep thinking, "When we get paid I will get some string and some beads and make me a bracelet."
Today, I went to work. Still not feeling great but I need the money and I have to work. I went all throughout the day until the last period when I was in the Kindergarten class and they were learning 12 ways to get to the number 11. The teacher had brought in long pipe cleaners and plastic beads that they were to count out 11 and put on the pipe cleaner then she read a story about the number 11. There were 4 corners, 3 stop lights, 2 bicycles and 2 dogs on the way to Aunt Janes house from our house. And the students had to count and push the require number of beads over for each item named. She let me make one a long with the kids and let me keep it.
I picked a Black bead to represent (praying for my unsaved friends and family). A blue bead to represent my husband and our Marriage (Born in Sept a Sapphire birthstone). A pink one to represent my daughters, a brown one to represent my sons, lavender to represent the spouses of my sons (even though they do not have any prospects of a spouse yet), red for the spouses of my daughters (sons-in-law), dark purple for my granddaughters, orange for my grandson, cream for my fellow christian women of faith (for instance the ladies in my sunday school class and those of you on here who are walking daily with the Lord in an effort to follow His Divine Will for your life, Yellow for my government leaders, and white for my clergy leaders. I can add more or change them if I need to as more specific requests are mentioned. I can get different shapes. But the miracle here is that I skipped that day of devotions and went back last night and today God knew that I would be freely provided with exactly what would be on my mind.
In his timing! In His Will! Praise God that He is ALWAYS prepared and watching and observing more than the obvious but even what is hidden in our hearts (good or bad). Praise God that where He is there can be NO darkness!
I love the Lord God so very much. And I am so unworthy and yet so very Grateful for His abounding Grace.
Thank you Lord for Spark People. Thank you Lord for Friends and friendships online and otherwise! Thank you Lord for listening in the darkness when the night falls and our heads are bowed and our eyes are closed and our hearts and minds are focused on you Lord. Thank you for whispering in that still small voice through the actions of an unaware even, Kindergarten teacher that you were listening and that you Love me so much that even the little things are not beyond your time or efforts.
Have an Amazing Day Sparkly Friends! Keep your eyes Focused on the Lord God Almighty! Keep your Hearts open to His Loving Kindness! You can't go wrong when you trust in the Lord.
