I did much better this week tracking my food and drinking my water. It really takes time getting everything working once you have been away for a while. The tracker is always an eye opener.

I was really excited Friday when it looked like I really had lost several lbs. However, hubby & I were away this weekend. Hubby had a sporting clays competition in Okeechobee. The tournament included a banquet dinner. We left at 6 a.m. Saturday and I packed sandwiches, fruit and water. However, the banquet, the breakfast at the hotel and the lunch at the range, & only a tiny bit of exercise did me in. I gained two lbs between Friday and Sunday. I was still pleased to see I had finally lost two lbs. this morning (instead of 4).

I have been steadily exercising for three weeks now. The strength training is going well & I am starting to add an additional 5 lbs to most of my exercises. I am so happy to be doing some strength training with all my various ailments. I built up to 40 min on the elliptical in 3 weeks. I saw my dr. Friday and he told me not to go over 40 min. He told me to stay between 30-40 as that is what the American Heart Association recommends. So, after reading several articles about exercising in intervals, I decided to try it on the elliptical for a week or so and see if it makes a difference. The article I recently read said to try to strive for 8 boosts of very fast intervals of 8-10 seconds during a 30 minute workout. So I started that today. Will report back later on whether this seems to be working. It is supposed to boost fat loss.

Also on Friday, I received my cholesterol results back and they were better than the last time which was six months ago. Hooray for me! I am sure that the exercise and watching what I have been eating the last 3 weeks helped dramatically.

I have lost of appts this week. While under all the stress in Baltimore with my father-in-law and my dad's decline in health, I believe I had a TIA in December. I could not see out of one eye and I was totally confused for over an hour. I was pretty scared and so was my sister. So my dr is sending me for an ultrasound carderoid artery test and a MRI of my brain. Will find out next Monday about those tests.

Besides exercising, I have working on my family trees and enjoying that.

Today I had my Valentine massage which kept getting postponed. I was full of knots, which is nothing new. In case you aren't aware, deep tissue massages actually hurt, but it is the only way to get all those knots worked out. I'm pretty sore right now, but just need to drink lots of water to flush some gunk out of the system!

Wishing all a happy, healthy week! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hugs, Betty emoticon

Hi Betty! I hope you get a good report from the doctor. A TIA can be very scary...my DH has had a few. Congrats on all the exercise and losing those 2#...that's great. I hate when you work so hard and then one lousy weekend messes it up! It's just not fair!
