5k and injury

I was super excited for the 5k on Saturday. I didn't intend to run the entire 5k, but planned on running at least 2/3 of it. I started off with a great pace. I ran the about all of the first mile, then a fast paced walk for 5 minutes. I began running again until the 1.5 mile marker when I felt a slight "snap" in my left foot. I didn't think much of it at first. It was more of a tugging at the arch of my foot. I walked for awhile then attempted to jog some. I ran until it became too painful. For the rest of the 5k, I rotated with short spurts of jogging with walking. I finished. I am not thrilled with my time, but it could have been worse considering. 47:12 was my time. All I wanted to do was finish and that I did. My DH was there waiting on me at the finish line with the camera, of course. I put all I had in running it in. Afterwards, I found a spot on the grass and proceeded to remove my shoe and check the damage. Of course there was some swelling and near the arch was a slight beginning of a bruise. My heel hurt pretty bad. DH decided it wasn't broken, no big deal. So, we made it to the car and on to breakfast. After breakfast (and boy was I famished) we headed home. I iced my foot for 15 minutes, then took a nice long hot bath. I had a baby shower to attend. I managed to attend the shower, but by the end, I was hurting and miserable. I drove back home and considered the going to the urgent care clinic. But I could already hear the nagging of my DH in my head. I headed home instead and iced my foot some more. By yesterday, I couldn't put any weight on my foot. It was a real chore to get to the bathroom. I kept it elevated all day. This morning, it felt a little better, but within an hour of arriving at work, the throbbing came back. I guess all that moving around aggitated it more. I called a sports medicine doctor for an appointment. The appointment is in 1/2 an hour. I will post the findings later this evening. I just hope I didn't do too much damage.
