Well, better late than never with this blog, right?
On December 5th, I ran my 6th half-marathon in Las Vegas with a group of Sparkers! I love Vegas--there's so much to see and do!
I stayed with Coach Nancy and her friend, Mimi, at the Venetian--my favorite hotel on the strip!
The course was fantastic--flat, as you might imagine. I got a PR (personal record) there--2:45:10.
Other highlights included:
The water show at the Bellagio. "Luck Be a Lady"--Frank Sinatra--playing in the background. You can't get much more "Vegas" than that!
We visited the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop--where the film the TV show, "Pawn Stars." There was a line to get in the shop, so I called my hubby while we were waiting. I was so excited! I said, "Guess where I am?" He said, "Ummm. Drinking in a casino?" Ha ha, he's so funny! Good guess, but wrong. I said, "No! I'm waiting in line to get into the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop!' He said, "Are you shopping or pawning?" Ha ha. Again, he's so funny! No one from the show was working that day--I guess if you're the Old Man, Rick, Chumlee or Big Hoss, you get the weekends off. It was really neat to see the shop though!
Coach Nancy and me after the race
And, oh YEAH! This deliciousness needs no explanation. Bret Michaels provided the post-race concert. He sang maybe one or two of his solo songs, but the rest were Poison songs. About 45 minutes into the concert, someone threw a sports bra up on stage. Bret walks over to the bra and he's probably thinking, "Hmmmm. Not really like the bras they used to throw at me in the '80s." Anyway, he starts laughing, picks it up, and puts it on the microphone stand and it hung there the rest of the show. (Oh, and just for the record, it wasn't mine!)
A race with Sparkers, a PR, and Bret Michaels--this half-marathon could not have been any better!
