Lesson today... I need to knock off the butter. Most of my FAT is coming from there.

Also the Lawry's seasoning salt.... holy crap on the sodium. I do not use salt at all. I DID NOT even think... Lawry's SALT.........I liked it because it did not have MSG in it...but seriously never gave thought to the salt in it. DOH!

And then I noticed I had the wrong cheese calculated. OMG................I am a heart attack waiting to happen let alone failing kidneys. OMG... I am still overwhelmed by the Cheese. I have been eating so much of it which I know is bad but now know the real calories/fats/protein... and even carbs depending on what kind of cheese you eat.

Oh and another HUGE mistake........... Habitant Pea Soup. I do not eat any canned soups but was craving this one as I really do love it. I never did the label stuff on it until later in the day. My SODIUM level reached over the mile high club 2x!

So each day using the Nutrition tracker is a must for me until I know what I am doing, until I am really paying attention to what is being eaten without thinking.

This whole week, eating wise has been a real learning adventure. Even though I know certain foods are not good... seeing it in print makes it even more real. I am doing pretty good with Phosphorous and Potassium. The fats/sodium need lots of changing.

I must find something to replace butter. BUT I hate margarine. HATE IT and think it has more chemicals in it than anything actually good for you. I love Butter.. LOVE .. and that is obvious.

Okay, so need to investigate some good ole fashion herbs for seasoning. Lawry's will be used very sparingly if at all. I think where we fail is in the taste of our foods of course. I hope it is not to late for me to not have to go on dialysis and to be able to maintain or even go up a grade from stage 4. Feb. 15th is coming fast. We will see.

I KNOW emoticon ... and you're absolutely right about reading labels. Even things that are in the Spark database don't always have complete information... so when you can't find the info you need--google! I spend a lot of time doing that! LOL

I went without any internet access for about six weeks... yikes. I just received an email with my recent lab reports...Phew. Not great, of course, Current GFR is 31--but that's still holding my own, and a big improvement over where it had been. I won't say what the blood fats were like, though... creepy.

I love butter too! LOL I don't use margarine, I'd rather do completely without than taste that particular chemical blend. I do use butter, but not near as much as I used to... especially since I don't tolerate statins. One good thing, an ultrasound was done of my neck arteries--little to no plaque, thanks to a medication called LOVAZA, a fish oil derivative. It's almost pure Omega-3s, and it is supposed to make it so the plaque doesn't build up so much--which seems to work! emoticon

I don't use artificial sweeteners either, they make my fibromyalgia go CRAZY... and I'm sure they're not all that good for my kidneys, either. Again, I'd rather do without.

There are other ways to add flavor. Extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice, with cracked black pepper... all kinds of exotic and flavorful seasonings... I've been experimenting, and the oil and lemon is my favorite so far--though I'm liking coriander lately...

Check into some new things and give it a try--who knows, maybe we'll all find something we like better than butter! LOL

Have you tried Ms Dash, no salt ? Not to bad, I LOVE salt, well Johnny's seasoning, a close to Lawry's.
Good for you to notice, I knew it had salt in it, but just hard to give up, but GOT to, argh!
