I'm a little nervous about this

I've spent money before on diet programs that have WORKED... specifically eDiets (the food delivery program -and- the regular recipe site that is just like this). I've also spent money on things that didn't work (Herbalife, Weight Watchers, etc.) I'm willing to try again because I need something to kick-start me into action. After speaking to my doctor and to a woman at work who is using it - I decided to try Medifast for a month to see how it goes.
I KNOW that the only way to lose weight and sustain weight loss it to eat right and exercise. I know that people who depend on programs like this only end up yo-yo dieting and making things worse for themselves in the long run. BUT -
Ultimately here's why I decided to do it:
I'm committed to making some important lifestyle changes that will prevent me from being one of the failed-diet statistics.
I respond well to positive feedback...and disciplining myself for a month to follow this program could be just what I need to get myself back on track. It'll kind of be like a shock to the system. Then, when it's finished, I can stay focused on trying to maintain the weight I did lose (if not attempt to lose more) by eating better and exercising more. While I didn't gain any weight over the holidays (which was great) AFTER the holidays was a time of struggle for me. There was like a 3 week period where I was eating out an awful lot - and NOT going to the gym - and just letting myself give into hunger and snack, snack, snack on stuff that I had no business eating. And what happened? I gained 5 pounds. That's on top of the 4 pounds I gained from the summer...
A lot of things are happening in the next month. I will begin to start training for my 2nd half marathon. I'd like to get started with that at least 10 pounds lighter than I am now. It will be easier for me to run that way... I'll have more endurance and a little more speed. Also, I learned a lot about myself and my body after last year's half marathon, so now I know what I need to do to actually LOSE WEIGHT during the process - whereas last year I compensated for all of my exercise by eating more and not really losing any weight (although my body changed). I lived most of my 20's in a yo-yo pattern for gaining and losing every few years or so... I want to get back to my post-college weight, which was in the low 140s. I was happy there. I need to lose about 20 to get there.
The items have shipped. I'll begin the day after they arrive. There will be no fanfare - no "last big meal" or anything like that. In fact, I'm trying to log and eat healthy up until everything arrives anyway.
Wish me luck!
