1,040 Steps
52 Floors
Yes, I'm thinking about climbing them!

I've seen two different groups that host skyscraper climbs to raise money. One group is the "Fight for Air" climbs that raise money for the American Lung Association and the other raises money forThe Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The particular event I'm looking at is the Big D Climb. It is in Dallas on January 29th and raises money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This vertical race goes up 52 floors for a total of 1,040 steps.

Has anyone participated in one of these events? I can climb up 50 floors in 15 minutes on a stair step machine. And, that's pretty comfortable. I wonder how different it would be racing up a building?

I haven't finalized my plans to do this race, but if I do, does anyone want to join me? We could form a SP team. I need to check with my husband's plans for that weekend & my mom's, since I'd be needing a bed at her house!

I'm excited to find something so 'different' to try. I think I'll be heading to the gym to use the stair step machine today!

I found a place that lists climbing events not only in the US, but around the world! Here's the site: www.towerrunning.com/eng

There's a stair climb in the Marathon Oil building on San Felipe. I forget what charity it supports though. You might look for that one.

Oh yea I just found out about the one in LA and was going to get an SP team together. I found a note somewhere that said if you can walk a 5k, you can do the climb in 30 minutes.

How totally cool! I can climb 12 flights at my office building. I wonder how that would translate? Hmmm. I don't think I can sign up with you but I might start tracking that as well.

I love the way you think of these challenges and find them. They are awesome!
