New start?... Old habits...

Well I joined Spark People 4 months ago with the most enthusiasm and best intentions I could have imagined... About 6 weeks in I took a nose dive and about 5 weeks ago I stopped completely. Home and work life have been crazy and I use that as such an excuse to not have time for me... but I know I need to do something.. I am going to weigh in the morning and I am afraid to say I am sure I have gained the weight I lost back and maybe more. I am sooo tired all the time I barely want to get out of bed...mentally and physically I am exhausted... all I want is to change... but staying the same just feels easier... I know from the many pages I have seen... this is possible and that I can do it... I just feel weak and worthless... I have tried and failed at this sooo many times... I just wonder what it will take to make me succeed this time... I know it takes me... but its hard to break old habits....

    Glad you are back! As long as you keep getting up and trying again, you are NOT failing. You can do this. Small changes, one step at at a time and just keep looking forward. Trust me when I say, that exercise will help both the physical AND the mental exhaustion..yeah, I know...being so exhausted is one reason we don't exercise...I've been there, but start small, do something every day, and soon the energy will come!! good luck!

    As long as you keep trying, you haven't failed. Hang in there, each step you take is one step closer to your goal, even if you take a detour here and there. I know for myself I've just been trying to focus on changing one thing at a time, not worrying so much about the scale, just trying to "reinvent" my lifestyle to the one I WANT to have. It's a long process, and I've gone back to bad habits now and then, but overall I'm further towards my goal today than I was a year ago, and some of the good habits have begun to stick, so it is possible, just don't be too hard on yourself and expect perfection, because perfection will never happen, but change will, if you give it time and stick with it.

    Hang in there! I fall so many times as well. But to quote a young relative of mine "It's not how many times you fall, its the getting ups that count!"

    I think you need to a spark team that do stuff one step at a time. Go to the spark team page and find one that is simply and easy for you to do. I really feel a team could help.

    It's good to see you back. (I wondered where you had gone.) Can you choose ONE habit to change?? Maybe if you break it all down to smaller steps??

    You are not weak and you are not worthless. You have only failed if you completely give up. Just do a litte each day and keep trying. I agree with MamaKitty10, start small and try to build momentum. Just keep moving forward!

    I know how you feel. I guess I'm an all or nothing person and most of the time I give up. What has helped me is to get some spark streaks going. Start out small; 5 or 10 of exercise, track your meals 5 days a week. Soon they will become habits. Just hang in there. emoticon
