First Day at the YMCA: Upper Body Workout - Feeling the Burn

emoticon Dale and I joined the Y on Saturday. It is our Christmas gift to each other. We got up early this morning, went to the Y at 5 AM and did 15 minutes of cardio on bikes to warm up and then hit the weight circuit for 45 minute upper body workout. It was pretty easy at first then as my muscles began to tire, it got to be almost impossible on my third set, but, I managed to make it through and feeling proud that I was able to complete it. Dale and I are both very out of shape, hope that this will get us both up and moving more. I feel good about doing so good this morning, but I have to admit that the soreness is really setting in this afternoon. I didn't expect to feel it until tomorrow morning. Tomorrow we plan to do the lower body workout. After getting back home from the gym, I decided that I would still go for my regular morning walk, it was a bit chilly but nice otherwise. I want to keep up my walks for as long as the weather allows me to. I was able to walk the whole 4.26 miles this morning. It will be interesting to see if I will be able to do it again tomorrow after the lower body workout. Guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

I have another prayer request to make for Alan and Tania. While Alan was still in the hospital, Tania discovered a lump in her breast. She waited until after getting back home to mention it to anyone. She went to the doctor and they took a biopsy, it is confirmed that she has breast cancer, a fast growing kind, so they have elected to proceed with the surgery immediately and delay the starting of Chemo Therapy until after the baby is born. She isn't due until January 5, the doctor recommends taking the baby early, but she does not want to do that. So Please keep the prayers going for them.

    So glad you and dh are both doing the YMCA. Such a wonderful gift to one another. Be careful with the circuits, that you don't overdue. A couple down here joined and I guess the trainer that showed them the routines didn't take their age into consideration. They were sooo sore and I think possibly hurt a little. Soooo sorry to hear of Tania's sad news now, too. I will continue to pray for them. Have a great Sparkweek! Keep up the good work! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Congrats, I started going back to the YMCA last week and I can definitely feel the difference. That 5am workout is so beneficial, I didn't go this morning because there was a two hour delay but I am going at 6pm.

    Working out definitely makes me feel better and it gives me a burst of enegry that I need to be productive. Good luck!!
