... And I've quit my exercise, eaten poorly, and gained back the few miserable pounds I had lost. Quite frustrating really, and all I've done is make excuses. So! Today I WILL get out the treadmill, and I WILL do my strength training! Then I might work on teaching the dog to use the treadmill some more too...

I have tried to get back to the positive and determined place I was before, and I think that in addition to the 10 pound goals and the 5 pound mini-goals that I have set up, I may need some micro-mini goals... I tend to get discouraged when the scale doesn't move fast enough and give up because I feel like it doesn't matter. Perhaps I'll do better with a weekly reward of some sort? Especially if I can stick with a couple of basics and hit streaks of 7 days? I'm working on it slowly in my mind, but I need to get it down on paper soon or I know that it will get set aside!

Any ideas?

Great idea about the micro goals! I have been rewarding myself a lot lately just for making it through the day!

Glad to hear that you are ready to put the past behind you and start anew. Hope you have a good day.

Good idea I made a list of little goodies I can reward myself with when hit certain goals. I also have a bag that when I see some small little thing I just love like a new nail polish or paperback book or clearance shirt I put them in there and every time I lose 5 lbs I can get something out of the goodie bag. And let me tell you, you are motivated when that book you just 'have' to read is waiting on you to lose those pounds lol Have a great day

OOH, I like those ideas! I don't have an ipod, but that's ok, I could still find something similar, a prize of about $1 a day! TV would be good too. I don't necessarily have the shows that I "have" to watch, but I usually have it on all the time for background noise. I do use it with the treadmill though, cuz the treadmill can get boring :) Thanks so much for the ideas!

I get discouraged easily too! I want to go from where I'm at to where I want to be in the shortest time possible, but I have to remind myself that it took me years to put on my extra weight. The extra weight I've put on won't come off overnight. Weight comes off just as slowly as it went on. That's good to remember. Also, find a non-food reward that you can indulge in every day. If you have a good day (where you accomplished your goals and are happy about the decisions you made) then you get the reward. If not, no reward. TV might work. If you have a good day you can watch 1 hour of television. If not, no TV. Really no TV watching (maybe exercising instead). If you have an iPod than maybe iTunes- you could download one song as a reward for each good day (that might be $1.00/day).
