Chanukah candles

Thursday, December 02, 2010

So when I moved here to Kentucky I had loads of Chanukah candles because back home they are everywhere, and very easy to come by. Last night was the lighting of the first candle so I pulled out all my stuff Tuesday morning so I was ready for sun set on Wednesday and realized I had ONE candle! Well I went everywhere looking for Chanukah candles, even called places in Ohio and West Virginia since we live close to both. Then I went online and looked at other stores I have not ever been to. NO Chanukah candles, not even at places like Hallmark and Hobby Lobby. How does a state like Vermont have the candles everywhere and 3 states here in the south have NONE! I had to order them from another state and was told they should be at my house by this afternoon. It is things like this that remind me I am sooo far from home. I miss my home!

Sorry about the lack of candles. I hope you find them soon too! Being far from home at this time of year and being new to an area, can be quite lonely and give you the feeling that you are not informed and not connected. I am not Jewish, but I understand being in a place where it seems like you are the only one. God Bless

    Happy Chanukah! emoticon emoticon

I must say I am a non religious person, which is quite common in France, and wouldn't know when Chanukah is, were it not for the social networks I follow. Hope your candles get there soon emoticon emoticon
