Thanksgiving Begins

Sunday, November 21, 2010

I love this time of year. For the last 3 years we have celebrated Thanksgiving 3 times in one week. It always starts with the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Our church has a Thanksgiving potluck right after the town's celebration of lighting the Castle Rock Star to start the holiday season. My husband and I are in charge of the potluck. So, today I cooked up a 21 lb turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and an apple cake. Early afternoon we went to the church to get the tables set up and decorated. It was a fun evening of fellowship.

I ate a light breakfast and lunch therefore I stayed within my calorie range even though it was at the very high end. I even got over 10,000 steps.

Sat 11/20
New Goals:

1) Blessings
I am blessed with a home that backs up to a small gulch and open space. We have seen deer and fox behind our house. When we bought this house God was definitely in it and we thank Him for giving us this home.

2) Low carb diet started on 11-15-10.

3) Exercise Variation

4) 10,000 steps a day -- and I will make sure I get that each day except Sun which will be a rest day. - emoticon

5) 9+ glasses of water emoticon

6) Finally I don't want to gain at Thanksgiving!

Goals continued:

1. Stay within calorie limit -- emoticon
--track EVERYTHING on SP . emoticon

2. Daily exercise routine
-- Exercise before SP, then log it emoticon
-- knee physical therapy (3 times a week) --
--strength training a different set of muscles ea day emoticon

3. Blog daily, even if it is short - emoticon

Finally:
My original goal of reaching 229 by 11/20 seems unrealistic now since I have only lost 2.5 lbs this month. My new goal is 235 by 11/30.
9/25 = 242.5
10/2 = 241.75
10/12 = 240.5
10/19 = 239.75
11/2 = 240.
11/9 = 238.5
11/16 = 236.5

Our church had our Thanksgiving somewhat earlier than usual since the pastor has to be out of town at a ministerial convention. He was telling us that when he got several turkeys at a local store the guy checking him out was amazed. He told the guy he was having Thanksgiving with 160 of his best friends, and the guy was disbelieving. However, we had a great time! emoticon

Hey, Carrie! You are doing so well! I see you're back where you were before surgery -- hooray! Rejoicing with you over your faithfulness and each victory! Glad it's YOU and not ME trying to eat 3 Thanksgiving meals over the course of a week! But you have plans, and I think you are going to do just fine! God has blessed you in so many ways, and you're attitude of gratitude is a joy to watch! Keep it up, friend!! We're pulling for you!! emoticon

I think 3 thanksgivings would be great! Then you could spread out what you want to eat among 3 meals.

Good for you, staying in your calorie range and getting in your steps.

There is no way I could handle 3 Thanksgiving in one week lol. I am going to have problems with just one. Hopefully I can get a walk in after dinner that day. You did great staying in your calorie range. Your apple cake sounds scrumptious.

Wow - 3 Thanksgiving meals in one week - congrats for being so diligent in your calorie tracking! Here's something neat to share with you: last evening, just as it was turning dusk, a huge Great Horned Owl lit in our cottonwood trees in our yard - he roosted there for about 3 minutes and then took off, right toward us! We watched from our living room windows, but he was only 10-20 feet away, and awesome. Like you, it's so special to live in an area with wildlife.

Sounds like you had a good day with calories and I'll bet you worrked off all the calories you had!!! It sounds like you had a good time, however, I'll bet you are tired tonight. It is so pretty there in Caastle Rock. My BIL and SIL lived there for a while before moving to Denver. We always loved to visit there.
    Have a good week end!
