So what have you learned, Dorothy?

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

SO, it appears my hunch was correct. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep before a weigh-in does me more good than attempting a "Last Chance Workout". Not that I intend to give up Zumba on Tuesdays - at least not yet (once we go to 12 hour shifts in January it'll be moot since Zumba is at 9am, and our new hours will be 9pm-9am, so there will be no way to get there in time). But I'm not going to stress about it - AND if it's a choice between Zumba and sleep, sleep wins.
Period.

One idea that came to me tonight is to make Tuesday "Crock-Pot Day" which will minimize the time for food prep before meal after Zumba - considering how much I love my crock pot, it's not like that's a hardship, I just need to remember and plan. (Which really should have occurred to me before now - doh!)

That said, I was still really tired and worn down when I woke up (after nearly 9 hours!), which definitely means I need to focus on sleep this weekend. Though I'm feeling perkier, and I'm definitely heading to the gym after work today - I've got that twitchy "I miss it" feeling going on, which I take as a good sign. This wasn't me falling off the wagon or slipping my resolve, I just hit a period where my body needed rest more than activity. It happens, it's normal, and IT'S OKAY! *nods*

Thanks to everybody who told me to "listen to your body" - excellent advice!
You all get gold stars, for being right and for being good friends!

SO, today is "focusing on the good stuff" day! (And avoiding the news...the election results here are incredibly depressing, and I'm REALLY regretting my restraint at not running over a certain candidate for congress who was on the streetcorner by my polling place waving at cars...though the fact 'Yote flipped him off when he "thumbs upped" at us makes me feel a little better).

Spark on, Spark Friends!

(Oh, the weigh-in? 221, which means I'm officially down 39 pounds...come on 40!)

I feel much better when I get plenty of sleep. I have to have time for both exercise and sleep.

I use my crock pots a lot year round. I love them.

Huzzah! You listened to your body, and acknowledged that you learned from it. THAT's what makes it work! Yay, YOU!
Crockpot sounds like a marvelous solution. It so frequently is!

Hooray for 'Yote & free speech ~ even non-verbal speech!

Election went mostly OK here in California. The two corporate money-bag monsters didn't make it into senate or the governor's seat. Marijuana didn't get legalized, but that's OK. The proposition was poorly written, and the small private growers would have been pushed out by corporate growers. It'll come back, with more thought behind it.

Ditto on the election results...I'm disappointed but not surprised. Thus the fickle nature of the electorate.

Great that you're doing what you need to do to be your best. Aren't crock pots a wonderful thing?!

i have been off for a few days, so I have not been here to support. Remember to relax and put out what you want and need so the universe can send it to you. Don't focus in the crud, it just makes things yuckier. Instead, think about Yote and things that make you happy - that way the rest of the crapola can be considered merely a distraction.

I think of sleep as medicine sometimes. A good night's sleep is sometimes exactly what the doctor ordered.

LOL - actually I bailed on the bank stuff yesterday, totally vegged out on the couch reading after we got back from voting until Himself was ready for bed. TODAY, I feel much more mentally able to tackle that mess. :)

I'll definitely be at the Plex this morning!
