New month, new goals.

I am 26 weeks pregnant this week! (OMGosh).

Last time I went to my OB she said that I needed to take my glucose test next visit. I go for my gestational diabetes test on the 15th of November. I am not anticipating any problems but am going to be super good for the next few weeks.

Lots of obstacles it seems will be and ARE standing in my way ....

1 -- LEFT OVER HALLOWEEN CANDY! (Please people, give ALL your candy away) People here at work have brought bucket loads in today. The last 20 or so trick-or-treaters we had last night made out like BANDITS at our house. They got handfuls of candy! I heard NO complaints either!

2 -- Our Church's Thanksgiving supper is on the 14th. UGH. Need I say more? I guess I will stay away from the desserts and eat VERY sensibly. But does it have to be the night before??

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers the next couple of weeks. Pray for my co-workers too -- I have been berating them for being stingy with the candy handouts at home!!

LOL.

Fill up on the healthy stuff at your church's dinner first, then pick a small, yummy dessert so you don't feel deprived and end up overindulging. Sweet potatoe or pumpkin pie will be full of nutrients-stay away from the pecan pie (my favorite) it's all sugar! Good luck!

Good luck with all the tests. The candy isn't your friend anyway... substitute it with some really juicy fruit for yourself

Wow! You are doing really well. I went for the same test both times and no diabetes! I was worried - my mom has diabetes and it is all over the fam! Good luck!

You are doing great! Sorry about the candy. I'm one of those co-workers who brought in two whole bags. I only had one lonely trick or treater last night come to my house and I had to do SOMETHING with the candy!!!!

LOL I bet those kids where super happy to leave your house with tons of a candy! Now they can beat the who-has-the-most-candy-in-their-bag contest!

    Wow 26 weeks! Time flies!

I think you will be fine at the supper! Just mingle with the people and you will be too distracted to think about having some dessert!

Ok, first off, this is how out the loop I am, but SQUEEEE!!! CONGRATS!!!

As for #1) send it to work with the hubby. If you can't trust yourself around it, send it away or throw it in the freezer.

#2) Is it a test for right this moment's blood sugar level or is it one of those that gives you levels over time?

Either way, here's how you deal with the thanksgiving dinner: If you've been before, you know about what will be there, and make the decision of what you're going to have _right now_, not when you're there and distracted.

Tell yourself repeatedly you're going to enjoy the turkey, a little gravy, a small portion of x, y and z. Don't focus on what you're not eating, just what you are. And spend the time reveling in the fellowship of sharing a meal and worship with the wonderful people and giving thanks for the amazing bundle that's on it's way. Start living the life of having a healthy relationship with food now so you can be an exceptional example to you babmino-to-be. :)

You ARE strong enough to live the healthy live you're meant to live.

    HUGS!!

LOL! I wish I could've stopped by your house last night! I would've taken all your candy. And eaten it in moderation of course. I have mini kit kat bars on my fridge and normally I'll eat one a night but lately it's gone down to like one every three days. I think I'm doing GREAT! LOL!

Keeping you in my prayers, Mama Nic! :)
