SOUTH BEACH DIET: 10 LBS/2.5 WEEKS

MY DH IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF LOOSING A FEW (REALLY ABOUT 50). BECAUSE HE HAS ALWAYS HAD PERFECT CHECK-US (EXCEPT THE WEIGHT), HE FELT THERE WAS NO NEED TO LOOSE. WELL, HIS LAST CHECK-UP FOUND HIS CHOLESTEROL UP A LITTLE. SO, HE FINALLY ASKED FOR MY HELP. BECAUSE HE WAS ALWAYS USED TO EATING EVERYTHING HE WANTED AND MORE, IT WAS HARD TO FOLLOW THE SP REGIMENT THAT I HAVE DONE FOR THE PAST YEAR OR SO. I WAS WATCHING TV AND SAW WHERE BILL CLINTON HAD LOST WEIGHT FOR CHELSEY'S WEDDING. I KNEW THAT HE WAS A HEART PATIENT SO I WANTED TO KNOW HOW HE LOST SO MUCH. IT WAS SOUTH BEACH. HIS DOCTOR APPROVED HIM DOING IT 100%. WELL, I STARTED THE BIG GUY ON THE PLAN AND THE WEIGHT JUST STARTED TO COME OFF. WE BOTH WERE PLEASED. MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT I AM IN THE KITCHEN WAY TOO MUCH MAKING SURE HE HAS THE RIGHT STUFF FOR B-L-AND DINNER. I EVEN COUNT OUT HIS NUTS FOR THE SNACKS. IT'S HARD FOR ME, BUT IF I DIDN'T, HE WOULDN'T. I'LL KEEP UPDATING HIS PROGRESS!

    That's great he's starting. I've seen on the BL and other weight loss family shows that the coach/trainers always say incorporate everyone into the preparation. Perhaps inviting your husband into the kitchen and making it a date type thing he'll learn and help out as well. May be once you do that he'll see how much work goes into preparing everything and will voluntarily help out.

    I've been on SB and lost 35 pounds in 2 months. The problem is that it didn't stay off when I came off the diet. Now that I've joined SP, I use SB as a base and work from there. The phase 1 is the toughest but once you are past that, then it's easier. The thing I didn't do before that I am doing now is - exercise! The weight has come off, but a lot slower.

    I wish you the best of luck with this. My doctor is the one that recommended SB to me as well.

    How wonderful he is turning to you and spark for advice !!!

    You are an inspiration to him. My husband and I use each other to inspire our workouts. If I am working out often my husband will get up and exercise and visa versa.

    I'm on SOUTH BEACH too. I don't always stick to it exactly. But, the times when I do best, all I really do is cut out grains and sugars, and stick to mostly low fat proteins and fruits and vegetables. I don't spend time in recipe books.
