I read a quote on procrastination (thanks gator...) and it made me realise that it is when I am indecisive that I postpone things- I get in some sort of lame don´t-know-what-to-do, and then I just put it away for a while.

When big crises appear, like yesterday, and I really HAVE to do something, I conquer my fear and do what needs to be done. That´s maybe why I don´t feel too bad (after the initial pain and despair) because I act. But when I have a problem that is not immediate but has to be dealt with and I am not sure how – I postpone and wait and bury my head in the sand and feel absolutely lousy.

So I need some sort of scheme on decisionmaking.

Thanks for reading.

Hmmm...I believe you've figured it out! Now we just need to figure out how to stop procrastinating on the non-crisis stuff. I have known that when something HAS to be done, then I can do it. But I never really thought about it in quite the way you blogged. Thank you! I bought a book called Eat That Frog on procrastination. The main thing I remember was each day to do the things you least wanted to do first, as in eating a frog. Of course I never finished the book!

I feel like I've found a sister in you! There are many "indecision" points in my life that have kept me "paralyzed" in the past (and buried in clutter, too). Progress, not perfection, in this as in all things!

    Thanks for sharing! emoticon emoticon

You are not alone. I, too, suffer from this. I have found putting it off generally makes things worse. I make a list of the "difficult" things I have to get done and then try to do those things the first thing in the morning and get them over with. The whole rest of the days seems to be brighter and happier when I no longer have to fret about making a decision on difficult problems.
