Still struggling

Friday, September 24, 2010

I think the title says it all...I am still struggling. My main problem is overeating, especially in the evenings. I may need to change my exercise, too.

I have to get to work on some other things right now, but I just wanted to put this out there. I know I'm not alone!

I can see from so many responses to this blog that you are so not alone.

I understand completely about evening eating. Sometimes I do better than others, but it is a goal for me to eat better things in the evening right now. This is a huge goal, so I am working on it a bit at a time!

    Good luck to us all!

Oh I saw the title of your page, and I just had to reach out! We are all struggling with one aspect or another of our journey! I will be keeping you in my prayers and I hope that helps you to know that. I have gone through this myself. However I have gotten to a good place. I love my exercise options. I recently realized that the amount of money my husband and I were spending splurging eating out once or twice a month, was enough to pay for a family membership at our local YMCA. To me that was huge! I love the socialness of group classes and the POOL! So it has made it a little easier for me. It is something I suggest you try too. Think about a time, that you would normaly overeat, then think of something special you would really like to do instead. It could even be something like a massage, going bowling, minuture golf..etc. Then you forgo the guilt of overeating but you also have the bonus of doing something good for yourself that you can feel good about!

You definately are not alone! hang in there and don't give up. There is a pretty good article in the nutrition section on late night food cravings that was pretty good (probably not anything you haven't heard before but just a reenforcement of what things we can try to do to break that cycle). emoticon

You said it! You are not alone this is a struggle that is for sure. Be kind to yourself and just take a break for a while. Sometimes when I try to hard and focus too much on food it becomes unhealthy. Set your miond to start strong in a few days and just do it. I have an evening food issuew also.It stinks but we can control it. We just have to make that choice. I'll try tonight and let you knowe how I did. Thanks for your honesty.

No, you are not alone. The evenings are the worse for me too, but I refuse to give in. I am stronger than the whispers and nagging cravings...stronger through Christ. Rely on your faith...when you want to snack, get into the scriptures, pray, or find a good devotional on being healthy and read. You will find that you will become stronger than you have ever been...stronger in your faith and stronger in resistance overcoming bad habits and cravings. emoticon

I think we all struggle at times. Yes, it is hard, but it also worth it. God never said our lives would be easy. But He did say He would give us His strenngth and power. I like to snack in the evenigs too. I keep those little Jello pudding cups in the house. I like them warmed up in the microwave topped with light cool whip. Do something with your hands or move a little. I also do my strength training in the evenings.
You can do this! I am praying for you as you conquer this battle.

Thanks for sharing. You're not alone in the struggle, that's for sure! Keep faith and keep trying. The answer will come, and the weight will go. In the meantime you can learn and grow so much. emoticon emoticon

I was a evening snacker, but found that if I work on my crafts or SparkPeople while watching tv my hands stay busy so I snack less. (I also have gotten more water in that way as its the most convient thing to have while doing one of the above)

I've gone through those days of overeating in the evenings, and finally had to just say, WHOOOAA, and after reexamining everything, I knew I had to cut back during the day and save room for a nice desert at night. That really helped-my mind looks forward to that special treat at the end of the day!

I've also really gotten into knitting at night-it doesn't burn many calories but it does keep my hands too busy to shovel in the food.

My calendar for today has this thought-
"I will lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven & earth"
    (Ps. 121:1,2)

I will ask this Great Maker to give you strength today to make the best choices for yourself (and some for me too!)

put some healthy food out and in the fridge so in the evening you will munch on those items instead you can do anything you put your mind to just be prepared for those evening munchies

are you kidding..struggle is my middle name. I keep seeing my scale going UP!! I can't stand it anymore. I'm hoping to push through this weekend being good, but hey, I'm not coutning on it..lol. But I've prayed in my heart, and I really don't want this thing to turn into idolatry, but there's got to be a way to stick with it and see more results

We are all struggling, that is why we are here. I have the same problem in the evening, especially when I am tired or during "that time of the month". I had two really, really bad nights this week. The best thing to do is just put it behind you. You can't change the past. Look ahead and focus on having good days - that's what I am trying to do!

It may seem easier said than done, but we all know you can do it. Have a "good" day!
