Me.... mountain biking?

Monday, September 20, 2010

What a great weekend it was! Saturday started out bright and early getting my daughter to her first girl scout meeting. The girls were so cute in their tunics! Then after the meeting it was off to my son's football game. What an awesome game! He ended up scoring 2 touchdowns and of course I was on the sidelines jumping up and down. (A little extra exercise! emoticon)

In between plays my oldest son and I would play catch with the football. Great arm workout!!! Well at one point I grabbed the ball incorrectly and ended up with a bloody index finger and a sprained middle finger. OUCH! I couldn't even make a fist yesterday and my finger looked like a sausage. Ok... no more football for mom!

After the games and lunch we took our boys out for some biking and geocaching. (my daughter had a sleep-over) We went out to Lake Elmo and went 5 miles biking through sand, mud, tall grass, hills, more hills, water..... etc. I have never been biking like this before, it was so much fun! Of course it was difficult to bike through the sand and on a few hills had to stop and walk my bike up. But we did it and ended up going a little over 5 miles. It felt great! On the water part my hubby went through first to see how deep it was. He made it through fine so my oldest followed. And then it was Andrew's turn..... well he started through the stream and then stopped right in the middle. So he ended up with two very wet shoes. I was nervous after seeing Andrew go through but I made it through the water just fine. This is something we will probably try to do more of because it was so much fun. A lot different than just biking on a boring old paved trail!

After the biking we all were starved! So we stopped for dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. I had a side salad and a grilled chicken breast sandwich which my son ate half of. Delish! Then we stopped and picked up movie for the night. We watched "Clash of the Titans".... great movie by the way!

Sunday was cleaning day in the morning. Then in the afternoon we went hiking through a corn maze. The maze was shaped like a skeleton and the kids each got a clip board to find all the bones through out the maze. It was a lot of fun but I am glad my expert navigator was with (my hubby) because I would have gotten lost!

The night ended with another football game for my son. They ended up with a tie game which he was disappointed but he did get another touch down for his team.

All in all it was a GREAT weekend and so much fun it was sad that it had to end. But it is back to the work week and planning for next weekend. I am thinking more mountain biking!

Have a great week spark friends!!!

Sounds like a great weekend! Hope your finger is doing better. I'll have to give some off-road biking a try - you make it sound like so much fun!

When we go to Buffalo Wild Wings, I get the naked tenders - all the goodness of the chicken and sauce, without any breading or grease! I haven't tried their sandwiches yet...maybe next time.

Sounds like you had a very fun weekend. Hope your finger is feeling better. I'm hoping to get over to the Severs corn maze in Shakopee this weekend. I'm sure I'll get lost. Maybe I could borrow your husband. LOL

Sounds like a blast. I haven't done biking like that. I have a street racing bike. Maybe I should borrow my husband's off road and give that a try!

You're weekend sounded fun and tiring all at the same time. I tried bootcamp for the first time and that was interesting. My butt is still sore!

    Have a great week!

Each time I read about all the fun stuff you are doing with your family I think two things. First, that you are the BEST MOM EVER! And two, I am looking forward to my boys getting a little older so that we can do more outdoor stuff together. ;)

You are the Queen of Exercise!
